This is all due to "Precision Scheduled Railroading" that was implemented by the Class 1 Freight Railroads a number of years ago. This business model was the brainchild of E. Hunter Harrison and was designed to artificially boost stock prices in the short term by intentionally slashing manpower and rolling stock by up to 35% in order to keep the operating ratio at an artificial pre-determined level. Classic corporate-raiding tactic. The government, whose primary duty is to protect the country from these kinds of robber baron tactics, was nowhere to be found to punish the tycoons responsible and protect the national economy, as the freight railroads have always been the lifeblood of the economy. Now the railroad cannot handle the increase in volumes and this is a large reason why our economy is at a standstill. There are no shortages. There is simply criminal and negligent activity by the Class 1 Railroads, and a bipartisan government that is derelict in its duty to prevent it from happening in the first place.

they ship out based on availability they havent halted anything they just dont have as much to ship since half fertilizer came from russia, the govt has federal logistics laws you cannot legally ship or transport products such as fertilizer or other continuity of life in general products/stuff when there can be a shortage somewhere major shipments get govt regulated since logistics ARE govt regulated

He has worked 22 of the last 26 days, so people that say UP is halting trains are smoking something.

They are busy as hell with shipping, says all this talk of them halting grain and fertilizer is fake news.
