Quoting: 10822R88 Hello female overy born genders….(lol) Yay to finally reaching my one year without my “friend”. Nay to the night sweats that have been keeping me up all night. Nay to the short term memory loss. Nay to my recent through the roof high cholesterol. Nay to the recent dark circles around my eyes. Yay for not having any “dry” issues. Wink The night sweats and not sleeping is killing me! I guess that’s where the “crankiness” comes in. I would love to hear what everyone else is doing.. what is working, what doesn’t, and of course what natural remedies I can use in lieu of hormonal therapy. What does my glp family have for me? How’s that for a subject change? :) This kind of discussion is not appropriate in a Public Forum. Try to think of others instead of your own emotional problems. Bragging about menopause is beneficial to no one. Upgrade your mentality with some character. Thanks. Bragging? I'd say she's reaching out for help. It's totally appropriate to post a thread like this on GLP. You must be new here. |

User ID: 80622600 United States 04/20/2022 11:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hang in there. It gets easier. The sleep issues are the worst for me. Have you tried melatonin? The only thing that helps me is deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and meditation. Also those sleep noise machines, lavender incense or essential oil. Reiki may help. I’m a Usui master so do self attunements. For the hot flashes, I used black cohosh because I didn’t want to take estrogen. Also wore layers and used fans, cool cloths. Also deep breathing. The short term memory loss can be a bitch. I use lists, journals and notes for that. Also mindful journaling. I just finished a parapsychology class and learned to keep a journal to record what each of my senses…well sensed each day. Like pick one thing and describe every detail (like for taste, eat a piece of fruit and describe it at that moment). The purpose was to be mindful in that moment so you can train your brain to observe and remember. It does help. As I said, though, it does get better. I went through premature menopause as most of the women in my family have. But the sleep issue is what really persists for me. You’ll get through it. |

You become a crone and having fewer female hormones starts to balance you. I am much less of a maniac then I was. Quoting: kat It's a transition. It takes patience. Same here at 62. SO glad it's all behind me, when I look back I can definitely see what all those crazy hormone shifts were doing to me. Now, I'm on golden pond. serene and sweet, satisfied with my life and one of the best perks is buying pretty undergarments that never get bloody. My entire teen/young lady life ruined so many clothes. Oh forgot to mention, my husband who had to live through the hell of my hormone issues with patience and grace loves me so much now. I never go crazy as* bit*cH manic anymore. The only downfall of growing old is still gravity and the old age things like arthritis bugging me. |

I have been 25 for well over a decade, so I have a long way to go before I have to worry about something for old people! Goodbye, halcyon days... There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened. |

You’ll sleep better if you get morning sunlight and stop seeing blue light at night. Early morning sun is associated with a lower BMI, probably due to appetite regulation. In the morning go outside first thing and face east. At night before sunset face west. This will program your brain to release hormones at the right time so your body functions better. |

User ID: 22600898 United States 04/21/2022 04:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The fun is just beginning. Whatever you do, do NOT have sex unprotected until at least the 5 year mark. It's still working, believe it or not. You still have a few eggs left. Wait until the unmitigated rage sets in, that one is fun. Often happens going 80 on some rush hour freeway. You will never sleep like you did at 20 again. Get used to it. No more 10 hour binges. You have to time it carefully and not eat before. What you can get is 4-5 really good hours of deep sleep. You have a lot more time and not as much to do with it. This is why you see seniors out walking at 4-6 am. You have to work out everyday to be able to sleep. No big chow downs either, they will keep you awake. Tomfoolery |

Vitamin B complex for sleep. Sweat it all out, this is the body's natural way of ridding toxins. Also because women have smaller hair follicles. This will start the process of losing leg and arm hair = no shaving. Great time in life. Stop allowing yourself to be pressured for sex. It's ok. Take the time for your body to go through the process. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 82498043 Canada 04/21/2022 08:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm in my mid 50s and still in perimenopause. I'll have my period for a few months then skip a month. They are getting shorter too. I haven't noticed anything else besides weight gain around the middle, which the body supposedly produces to increase estrogen. I've been a whole foods plant based vegan for 25 years, and ice been reading how a plant based diet is good for menopause. Phytoestrogens, plant based estrogens, are good. Real estrogens from lactating animals or in their flesh are not good. This lifestyle is working for me since I haven't had mood swings, night sweats, sleeplessness or any other symptoms. Plants, including herbs and veggies, are healing. |

I take Curamed, a high quality turmeric pill and tart cherry pills every day. The amazing thing is, at nearly 60, my hair has very little gray in it. I also don’t need any painkillers and am virtually pain free. They must be working because if I don’t take them for a day, I get really stiff and get my body will hurt. |

Hot flashes are nice because I'm at least no longer perennially freezing cold. Short term memory is not as sharp so I keep lists. Hair is thinner and whiter. Meh. I never worried about hair, makeup, nails, etc. INTJ for life. No hormones and have never been on birth control. This is simply another phase of life and we've been doing this for thousands of years. |
