Re: Fellow GLP women…..menopause - hormones discussion
Is there something fundamentally different in the sex drive after menopause? Would be great to know, in order to adapt.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79235628

Some women's sexual desire actually 'increases' at this time. Everyone is different.

I'd encourage her to revamp her health generally. Look into 'intermittent fasting', detoxing, consume fresh food, leafy greens, avoid junky foods, do stretches and exercise etc.

Perhaps you could both start a new health programme together?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34530597

Great response! This time of life you must be as healthy as possible. Love Intermittent fasting. Healthily food and lifestyle. Working out with weights is great for keeping muscle mass. Sex is so important to a relationship. Must talk about it.
Women read more about progesterone as natural hormones key to maintaining healthy life. There are great books to get on this.

Maca in smoothies works for hot flashes.

But it has a side effects if used long term, boobs grow, well it enhances curves a bit.

If you don’t want that don’t take it.

Lol. My boobs won’t stop growing as it is. I will however forward this to a friend who wouldn’t mind those particular side effects.

Thanks for the input hf

Re: Fellow GLP women…..menopause - hormones discussion
I’m 51 and have no menopause symptoms. It could be because of rewiring my brain and subtly tweaking my hormones with lifestyle changes. I read Jack Kruse’s articles about the effects of the sun on human physiology in 2015. Every day I either go outside or crack a window to get sunlight on my eyes for at least 5 minutes in the morning and at night before sunset. My sleep issues cleared up a lot after I did that. I eliminated olive oil and replaced it with butter, and swapped fish for red meat. I stopped eating green vegetables like kale and salad. I’ve used progesterone since 2018 but I can go months without it, and don’t notice its effects much. I have only experienced a few dribbles of sweat, nothing like being drenched. My main symptom is irritability so I have once again gone off all foods containing beta carotene and vitamin A, in order to reduce the load in my tissues which I think is causing inflammation to my thyroid and reducing the function of my endocrine system.

Very interesting with the the sunlight info. I’m going to check out the articles.
Surprising with the red meat, giving up the greens and adding butter.
If it’s working for you, kudos! My body will hopefully figure it out soon when I try new things that were suggested.
Thank you hf

Completely agree that this forum is not the place for this thread. I recommend hystersisters.com and their public forum.

It's hard to wrap your head around the radical changes, no one ever gives us the menopause talk, but we get the period talk.

3 biggest things for me are: mental/emotional changes, body shape changes, and body chemistry changes.

Fortunately I've mostly gotten a handle on the first.

The body chemistry changes for me meant my formerly robust sex drive has tanked hard. TMI WARNING: The intensity of the sensation has dulled as well. What a cruel thing, for orgasms to go from "fireworks " to "well that felt ok but a back rub does too and feels about the same " . I'll get a good one every once in a while but overall the intensity is definitely not what it once was. And yes I've tried all the methods. Also tried several supplements... nope. HRT... didn't work. Just have some wine, they say... weed.. ? no and no.

I still am intimate with my wonderful husband because part of my love for him is meeting his needs, and guys need sex. I also love the act of physical bonding even though it's not as intense for me as it once was. It's still awesome but in different ways.

Body shape changes...

I remember being in my 30s and seeing women over 45, marveling how they could all have let themselves go. That won't be me, I'd say to myself. Look at the fat stomachs!

Surprise, you can be healthy and not change your good habits and still get the menopause middle! I was horrified to now be in the shape of a potato. Just diet, right? I fought to lose 10lbs and that middle part didn't budge an inch. The thing is, the menopause middle appeared overnight, and I didn't gain any weight but my body had apparently rearranged itself. It's a serious mind fuck.

I was explaining how distraught I was to my husband and he said, it's a natural aging process, he is getting old too and he's grateful we're doing it together. He also told me the best thing ever: "I am in love with a person, not a body" That statement made me feel SO much better!

Husbands if you're reading this I hope you're paying attention, especially the last part!

Anyway I hope my ramblings help someone.

Re: Fellow GLP women…..menopause - hormones discussion
Going through menopause is a complicated task. There are so many changes! Of course, women can take hormones and use various products for their personal comfort, but still, it is hard emotionally and psychologically to look in the mirror and see the changes. I think it is possible to see a good result only if go it all together. I mean, not only take meds (by the way, there are also medicated products with estrogen like Premarin Cream [link to www.canadadrugsdirect.com (secure)] ) but also do exercises, stay active, control nutrition, embrace stress management techniques, get enough sleep, etc.

I love post menopause. If I could turn back time, I would skip puberty and go straight to menopause LOL. Nice mellow happy moods, so little pressures and stress, no hormonal crazy emotional up and down mood swings. It is the best time of your life.

Re: Fellow GLP women…..menopause - hormones discussion
Thank you for this thread, OP.

There are lots of issues around this that tend to be not discussed very much, kind of "taboo" I guess.

It is about my loved one, she went into menopause a couple of years ago and still suffer hot flashes and so forth. I stand by her at all times, riding through emotional explosions and so forth.

One issue though, and I realize that not everyone is comfortable talking about this. The sexual part of the relationship.

This took a radical turn, I think last lime we had sex was at least 1 1/2 years ago. Ok, I fully understand her issues not feeling up to it with the hot flashes and all. She does not feel attractive at all, sweating etc.

My question is, how can I help her overcome the issues of menopause? I will love her forever but I really would like us to come back to the intense lovemaking we had before this. I'm very patient, no problems there.

All advice is much appreciated.

I know that for me, it just takes a little more effort to turn the switch on. Wipping out the dick and saying come on baby, let’s fuck, just doesn’t do it anymore. Try giving her a nice relaxing massage, take it slow, be creative.

 Quoting: Rev Woo-Woo

Thanks for the advice, in fact this is what I'm doing already but maybe I could intensify those things. Foot massage etc, good relaxing things. We are very close but... I really miss the great sex we had. Sorry to be so blunt but it has become an issue after so long time without it.

Guess I need to be more creative.

Maybe she could take a saliva test to just see where her hormones are. Natural doctors will do these tests.

Re: Fellow GLP women…..menopause - hormones discussion
Going through the change is rough, but well worth it when your body adjusts, and you no longer have the monthly hormone swings etc.

During the change phase, I had problems that I thought were going to be permanent and they got me down, depressing, I felt yucky about how my appearance was rapidly changing, feeling old, ugly and did not want to see anyone thinking it was all down hill going to get worse each day the rest of my life.

Little did I know those things were only temporary. I looked older going through the change phase for a few years than I do now 15 years later. My body adjusted, compensated and restored quite a bit.

I adapted to my changing body needs and made needed corrections, like not squinting and making frown wrinkles, using more care and pampering my skin and working on parts of my figure, increasing nutrients and fats, adding more protein and drinking more water, keeping the air moist and simple things like that to keep you rejuvenated.

Most of all smile and be happy, force yourself, look on the bright side just around the corner, it is a temporary adjustment and gets much better.

Great encouragement for those in need of this advice. I think we can keep our figure with age with paying attention to how the body changes and what we need to do to keep shape as diet and keeping muscle really important. Weight training crucial as you get older to keep muscle mass and strength to do things that you enjoy. Intermittent fasting and eating less - plus drinking less has kept my figure like it was when I was younger. The weight training great for posture. You can start out small. It makes a difference. When you weight train you continue to burn calories when you leave the gym. Also like infrared sauna if you have access to one.

Another thing that came out in our other menopause threads that we all had in common, take digestive enzymes and pineapple. Something happens to our bodies after this time causing digestive troubles, bloating, gas and other body chemistry issues. The enzymes are expensive but well worth it and will also help control the tummy bulge weight, social and fragrance issues.

Subject change from all this bs world issues….

Hello female overy born genders….(lol)

Yay to finally reaching my one year without my “friend”.
Nay to the night sweats that have been keeping me up all night.
Nay to the short term memory loss.
Nay to my recent through the roof high cholesterol.
Nay to the recent dark circles around my eyes.
Yay for not having any “dry” issues. Wink

The night sweats and not sleeping is killing me! I guess that’s where the “crankiness” comes in.

I would love to hear what everyone else is doing.. what is working, what doesn’t, and of course what natural remedies I can use in lieu of hormonal therapy.

What does my glp family have for me?

How’s that for a subject change? :)
 Quoting: 10822R88

Honestly, I don't know why but I haven't too much of an issue and I'm pretty sure I'm way, way past the age. My friend is LONG gone. Now, I do have memory fog but I just attribute that to getting older. Supplements have really helped that. And yeah, I've gained weight but that's because my eating habits have changed in the past year and I must fix that. No dryness thank God (wink back).

I take a handful of vitamins once a day which includes a pill for Adrenal Fatigue (the supplement is Soothe by Wellpath and it's available on Amazon). Years ago, I worked for the doctor who actually coined that phrase and believe me, if your adrenals are shot it can and will FEEL like menopause at ANY age. I also take 4 drops of iodine in water every day now. I tried progesterone cream at one point because it seemed to be the thing to do at my age but it gave me bad headaches so I stopped. I've always been a Popsicle/icee fanatic and I have a portable air conditioning unit in my bedroom (in addition to the apartment A/C) so I probably wouldn't even know if I heated up.

What I AM going to do, though, is stop by a local lab, Sonora Quest Labs, in my town and run my own bloodwork lab for women that gives a complete rundown on all the hormonal stuff so I can get a clearer picture. You don't need to go to a doctor to do it. It's DIY bloodwork. The lab actually has a menu and you just choose the kind of bloodwork you want to run. There is one especially for women and they send you the results. Costs about $80. I'll just take the results and go to the internet and figure it out. For someone like me who doesn't trust ANY doctor ANY MORE, it's the way to go. I am sure that every state has a lab that will do this.

Hang in there...you are not alone. Don't forget that this world is pretty messed up right now and our mind, body and spirit is taking a harsh beating no matter what we do. Not everything will be menopausal although they will tell you it is. Don't believe them...

Now this it top secret. Only for the older ladies needing all the help we can get to keep up with the younger ones. LOL

Garcinia, take one cap 20 min in the morning, before each meal or snack with a glass of water and say good by to that tummy fat. You have to read up on it and try it. For me, it stops the body from producing fat. I do not know if it will works the miracles for others as well as it does for me.
I get it in bulk powder and fill my own gel caps. 6 months worth costs about $25 and it is pure, no fillers, each cap is more potent than prefilled ones that costs three times the price.

Hoodia is amazing, it is a boost of energy and reduces apatite like diet pills but an all natural plant. Caution, treat it like a powerful stimulant, like an amphetamine.

Garcinia is a fruit extract and all natural, acts like a fat burner.

Then there is Kratom for aches and pains, works great for a get up and get going booster.

Rhodiola Rosea, Ashwagandha, Mucuna, gaba, sam-e and L-Theanine are all great for uplifting your wellbeing, mood lifters, stress reducers, happy pills.

Vit C before bed, your body produces collagen when you sleep and vit C helps in restoring your skin and joints.

Copper for greying hair.

Magnolia, Scullcap, Damania, Kava Kava and St Johns wort are good for emergency sedatives.

DMAE and Ashwagandha have been studied and shown results to help reduce signs of aging. I have a few more tricks I should not mention.

I keep my bulk herb and nutrient collections sealed air tight in the freezer and they last for years. I just take it out to fill gel caps as needed so it stays fresh, not sitting in a jar on the shelf for more than a month or two. I also keep the jars of filled caps in the freezer.

I never believed it was possible to reverse signs aging, but I am living proof. It is possible and to do it all naturally.
