While impending war is certainly a possibility, I can't help but equate it to what has happened in the US the past two years with people moving away from large coastal cities, like New York, due to government actions and wanting freedom. And Shanghai is a huge economic hub with world-wide importance and thus a target for an invasion of Taiwan, which should be among the TOP 5 on the list of preferred targets in the Pentagon.
