Very Generous of you OP

Agreed. Hobos aren’t always riding the rails. A “hobo” is different from a “bum” in that a hobo is traveling, looking to work.

It’s all in a Mad Men flashback.

That's fascinating.
Now I want to see Mad Men.

Life is so fucking unfair and our society so sick.

He's drug and alcohol free, as in never drank or did drugs.

Never went to prison or even jail.

Good for you OP. I really admire you. Everyone is so selfish these days, and this was a true act of kindness. I've always found that these kinds of actions are not only very rewarding but they reply and multiply the blessing back to you 3 fold.

I wish that I could say that I have done the same but I have not. You've inspired me though.

His father murdered his Mom in front of him then suicided. He was raised in a good foster home, but obviously had developmental and stability issues.

Only bad habit is puffs of cigars. He has mesothelioma from doing demo construction in his youth. He was told he should be ok and live at least another 20 years if he can stop the smoking. Other then that he's functional.

He's wandered place to place for 40 years. Lost all his teeth years ago.

Monday we will try to find out what we can do to get his Birth C and ID back so he can get on disability or SS. He's 62 and has nothing. He can and wants to work, but needs the ID. He may need to be on a med but he seems totally fine without anything.

Thank goodness it's summer so he can be outside. I'm going to see if I can find him a tent on Craigslist, the damm things are so expensive.

He needs to contact his step parents who are still alive and live in Co Springs. If they say he can come home for help to get the ID's , I may drive him there.

Fucking Greyhound wants 200 bucks to go from Nashville to Denver. Insanity.

I'm in no better shape then he is emotionally. Both of us fell through societies cracks. He actually has better resources than I do, money or not.

Re: I picked up a Hobo on the Highway again; he's in my guestroom
Here's what happened. He was with me an entire weekend, about 4 days. Had his own room, cozy bed, DVD player and movies. It took until Monday/Tuesday to figure out he wasn't all there. He started to complain about little things which blew my mind. He didn't know basic social graces and was sloppy. He's been on the streets off and on since 15. Lost all his teeth by 40.

Turns out he's illiterate, can barely read or write. He had extreme PTSD and ADD.

He just wasn't well enough to be helped with just food and shelter. I dropped him off at the Mens shelter and have no idea what happened to him after that. Nashville has endless resources for people who accept the help, so hopefully he found someone who got him back on meds.

He wasn't drug or alcohol addicted, so he was an excellent candidate to get help. The issue is in order to get medications these people have to commit to living somewhere and they don't want to. They want to wander. He should be able to maintain his meds without being held prisoner in his own country.

This is true for all of us and all meds, before 2013, you could fill a prescription nationwide. Now it has to be within the state the doctor prescribes. Thats what got him in trouble, he left his last residence then lost his resources. All he gets is a disability check deposited into an account once a month from the Gov. Well they should "deposit" his meds as well the same way so he can get them wherever he is!

Our system is broken in every aspect. It comes down to the same thing; agree to be a prisoner and you get needs met. Seek freedom and you lose all.

I'd like to wander more but I am tied down to our family house. It costs me no rent to live here, if I "wandered" I would have added living expenses.

So being tied down isn't just a thing for the homeless to receive help. It's extremely common.

I picked up a Gypsie from Walmart again; he's in my RV.

No water or AC until he gets my fortune right. He didn't come with his own crystal ball (sigh, incompetent), so I had to give him a bowling ball instead. I'm sure it should work pretty much the same.
