Seriously? Don’t they know you can literally grow potatoes in a laundry basket? In a pile of yard clippings? In a hole in the ground? Potatoes are the easiest thing to grow in just about any medium in the world!

I can buy 100 pounds of raw potatos for 16 bucks.

So no thanks. I'll bake them myself.

I threw one on the ground last year and some animal ate half of it. 3 months later I got 7 potatoes from it.

Kinda what I was thinking.

Seller deserves to make a profit for the service he or she provides. Then there's the overhead expenses: buying and maintaining the lorry, buying and maintaining public officials, that sort of stuff. But no matter HOW good the tater is (and it better be special, on general principle), a 10,000% margin is absurd.

That's $13 US.

Depends if it was topped with brocolli, cheese, bacon, and butter. Then yes.

if I was a chunt from Brisbane, I'd probably think "Wow, this is living because I can see the top of some ugly skyscrapers, now I am going to pay $17 for some potatoes, because I'm in the big city".

AU is way overrated as a tourist destination and cost is one reason not to go, and not because of recent inflation either.

Outside of the harbor area and Bondi there are dozens of other places to stop and see long before landing in SYD.
