Re: Suffering for enlightenment
I've been in horrific pain 20 years...my son 10 years...everyone else close to me betrayed me, even my kids I raised ALONE while in agony years, basically from my sickbed...yes...I've been enlightened...I'm targeted...don't know why...but my son and I have been shown so much it's crazy..I say targeted because it's adversity in continous waves ..for example..the past two weeks a copperhead snake bit me IN MY BED ON MY BUTT.... yesterday my Jeep overheated miles from home...then my son seemed to have remideed it..then the fucking brakes started going out...it was a miracle we made it home... We have evil doing things to us all the time...to the point of being ludicrous...I prayed years ,as a devout Christian, for truth...I fasted too...it came to me starting around eight years ago...I'm not the same person...I'm not a Christian anymore...I look back and see now just how indoctrinated I was...we've been shown so much...through a variety of ways...what I prayed on was the meaning of Jeremiah 33 3....where it said I will show you great mysteries..I just had to know ...boy did I get answers...it's difficult to know so much... people think we are crazy...they fear us...look at us like we are green...knowing the evil that really runs this world is tough while the sheep watch their football and such...it's a curse ...maybe...every day is a struggle just to get dressed...do the basics...we get no disability benefits...

I totally get your pain and hardships. It is not easy to endure, but hopefully the following could bring you some peace and calm you well deserve:

We willingly and purposely "dumb down" ourselves to come into this world that is a school for us to have an adventure of learning to grow up from spiritual immaturity to greater wisdom and benevolent maturity. And through that long learning process that spans many human lifetimes here, we begin to uncover who we truly are and why we are here. Some call this a test of consciousness, that is, blessed with free will to freely choose, what will we choose and how will we behave.

What we had done in past lifetimes are carried over to this lifetime. This concept is known by different names such as karma, causality, law of attraction, reap what you sowed, and what goes around comes around. And contrary to what some believe, God/Source does not judge and punish, but will instead always lovingly nurture and patiently guide us back onto the path of love when we veered off it through free will.

When we fail to see or heed the divine nudges, the subsequent nudges become less gentle to make it more obvious to us. Being quite stubborn creatures, we prefer to dwell in our old comfortable ways even when knowing those ways are not the best for us. And when we lack the incentive to change and the nudges become strong, some then mistakenly believe it is punishment from a vengeful God or that we are trapped souls here to suffer as food source for some evil alien entities.

Everything happens with purpose behind it. Nothing is ever random, coincidental, lucky, or unlucky. Uncover the lessons embedded in our adversities, learn from the lessons, and improve ourselves. All part of growing up.

As we move further along the spiritual path to love, what we earlier saw as suffering and adversities will now be seen as grateful and blessed lesson opportunities to gain more wisdom and benevolent maturity. With this understanding and more able to see the bigger picture, we then would have a more peaceful heart and mind, instead of dwelling in anger and hatred and feeling like we are lowly hopeless and helpless victims of this world constantly complaining and blaming.

We can't move forward spiritually when we dwell in fear and victimhood. It is why the malevolent people in power wants to keep us in perpetual fear and feeling hopeless to deny our spiritual growth. It is exactly what masters do to their slaves for easier control and manipulation.

God does not want us to suffer. God wants to be found to give us personal comfort and guidance while we each learn to grow up.

And God's love is open without prejudice to anyone who seeks it with sincerity and pure intent. God's love is not exclusive to only members of a certain club, or only to people who follow a long list of "must do" things in order to receive God's love.

Why so much mention of love? Because love is the key to solving our problems. When we open our hearts to receive God's love and in turn we give love to others, it triggers a cascade of benevolent enhancements to our body and mind to fast track our spiritual growth.

Start by having gratitude and gradually take in the love of God. Then better things will follow to help us grow up to greater wisdom and benevolent maturity more able to understand why things are unfolding the way they are.

All the best!!!

Re: Suffering for enlightenment
You can not achieve pain without suffering.

Correct. Internally, I correlate the 2 together.

Re: Suffering for enlightenment
This isn't the explanation you gave at the beginning. Likely because it isn't true.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79308689

I do believe it.
I also believe suffering can be achieved through fasting.
I did the thread because I don't know shit.

Example - Indian braves:
Go out in search of food- he must help feed his people.
Do you think a brave is going to come back empty handed?
No, they come back with food, or they don't come back at all.
Let's say he is hunting his balls off, hasn't eaten in 4 days and is still at it... I believe his senses become heightened, his mind sharp as a tack, and his hunger disappears- because he is willfully suffering.
6 days later when his people are beginning to think he is dead, he comes back with a rabbit, turkey and a deer.

Did he "go evil" ? Maybe, maybe not.
Maybe evil is the easy way - for lack of a better term.

You shouldn't tell people what they are thinking or what their intent was... especially when you are wrong. No offense, but I have a feeling you just wanna talk shit this morning, OR, have never lifted weights, ran, or gotten your fat ass off the couch in years. Sorry. I do hope you have a good or bad day, whichever you get your rocks off to.

Not knowing, you feel a need to know, and thus make a thread and enter into the give-and-take of forum conversations, and all of the social energies involved in that, the arguing and back and forths and emotions and whatever.

This "need to know" thus is causing suffering.

In this way, most of what we do is setting the stage for suffering of some sort. Seeds of karma, in other words.

Set the stage for happiness.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82213476

Wow.
How did you read my mind?
^That is not a rhetorical question.

I believe I'm happier than 95% of all people.
I feel like other humans mostly pretend to be happy.
Personally, I'd rather be dead than live like them.
I am indeed setting the stage for happiness - and it's close, I can feel it. If I'm 100% honest with myself, maybe it's death I feel approaching, but I do not feel any sadness.
I'm 46 years old.

Re: Suffering for enlightenment
Suffering releases chemicals in your brain.
Suffering more releases more chemicals in your brain.
Many people say it brings enlightenment and answers.
Those same people say it takes them to a dark place.
Very fucking evil place.
I don't want to know what that means.
Can a person use suffering to unlock potential and NOT go to a dark place? When you want to quit or beg for mercy because it hurts so bad, is the only choice to overcome that obstacle turning to evil? Can a person visualize with their mind's eye destroying evil instead?

Thanks for any answers. Please discuss.
 Quoting: Trashcanman2

You are already doing that suffering for enlightenment just in going through this thought process. Make it an internal journey. People often suffer in the good way (meaning they move THROUGH it) when they meditate.

Re: Suffering for enlightenment
I would say it is simple.

In search of happiness we create theories of what will be the key. When we realize that theory isn't correct, finding a new path is painful.

I think the key is to keep out as much thought and stick with heart…the heart knows what it wants…the mind like to rationalise theories created by itself.
