Only Apple would create such a nefarious device and only Democrats would give their business to Disney.

17 is the new 12

CHICAGO (WLS) -- You may have heard of Apple AirTags and other new mobile tools that can help you find lost items -- but criminals can also use them to stalk and steal. The I-Team is finding out how you can avoid being tracked and followed.

Nationwide, there have been reports of Apple AirTags being planted on people and their belongings. They can even be used to help thieves steal cars.

For just under $30, you can buy an Apple AirTag and in just minutes, it is synced to your phone. The AirTags use an extensive network and the built-in Find My iPhone app to keep track of your wallet, keys or luggage or purse. But wrongdoers are seizing on the technology.

Consumer Investigator Jason Knowles tried out the AirTag, explaining: "I drove to Orleans and Oak and I have the Air Tag on hand. We will see if the AirTag tracks me."

I don’t understand how someone else’s AirTag (call them the tracker) could show up on the trackee’s phone?

If I buy and use an AirTag, it should be encrypted so that only I can track it, correct? How is it possible for someone else to see “my” AirTag?

This confuses me.

It says they never found the AirTag, so it is likely they were just picking up an AirTag close by, not unusual in a car park. There have been a number of other cases where people believe they are being tracked due to receiving the same message, but it has turned out to be just a notification of a nearby AirTag, but you do not get updated when the AirTag moves away.

Does not matter, those magic bands you put on to enter the park (also hotel key and linked to your Credit card) track you the entire time you are on property. Your locations, spending habits, preferences, ect. They then can taylor a portfolio to your name and sell you crap online. They know where you are at all times on property. I used to keep a gun on me when I stayed on disney property and slid our luggage next to the door just in case they came for our daughter in the middle of the night.

By “they” do you mean you were worried that Disney employees or operatives were going to come kidnap your daughter?

It wasn't the girl's tracker, it belonged to the perv who planted it on her.

After Apple got blowback on the idea pervs could track unsuspecting people, they changed it, so the unsuspecting person can see nearby airtags, but not if they move away.

More like the Gestapo government agent who planted it on her.

This is America. Nobody can compete with the government. Disney is finding out what happens when you clash with a crooked governor. There will be many more dirty tricks like this.

The truth is Disney World is one of the safest places on Earth and all the human trafficking is run by the government and they can't say no to it, just like everywhere else.

Gaston family were on a day trip to Magic Kingdom when they made discovery

Madison, 17, and her mother, Jennifer, only found out about the AirTag four hours after they were first tracked

They went back to the theme park's parking lot before searching their car for the device, but to no avail

Madison continued to monitor the device's location on her iPhone through the remainder of the day

Mother and daughter alerted police but still don't know who the gadget's owner is

Hundreds of women across the U.S. have reported receiving notifications about AirTags they do not own tacking their every move

The devices can easily be hidden and report movement to owner's iPhone

Apple has no response to this misuse of their tech? They launched it, they own it, I'm sure you sign all your everything away to them when you purchase and enable the device.

They cant send info to the tracked about the location of the tracker? They dont have that data re the location of the tracking phone?

Is this some new way of hunting or trapping?

Sounds like fuck apple right up their one way street.

How are you blaming Disney for this? They most likely had nothing to do with t. That’s like saying (insert establishment) is responsible because someone shot my wife while she was shopping.

They are placing the air tags on peoples' expensive vehicles in parking lots.

They can use this to then track your vehicle to your home, case it, then know when you're not home to make a move.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77525407

Yeah, OK!. I’m sure it has nothing to do with placing it on a pretty 17-year-old girl at Disney, where it's a Sex traffickers Paradise.

I'd bet they have entire crews whose job it is all day long to find teens, slip a tracker on them, and try to scoop them up later.

That girl and her family were very lucky they caught it and knew what was going on as soon as the alert popped up because I'd bet in a day or two that would've been a missing person.

Does anyone know what the range of these is……it says it will notify or make a sound when out of range of the synced phone.

It does say they finally found the AirTag after moving off but still getting the notification and it was only when they took of their clothes etc it fell on the floor.

This is definitely an avoided rape scenario and possible home invasion.

What is an air tag?
In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined:

With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world,
And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor.
Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world
And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator.
