We had a 24-hour grocery store. We had an 'all-night' coffee shop. When did the USA adopt shitty European service and late opening and early closing hours?

Burlington pulled put all of the stops during the 80s thru 2010. They needed to put themselves on the map. So they had some then progressive ideas for the new england mini-city.

New england does close its doors at 9pm. Mostly because they opened at 9am, and there's only 1 person running the place. 12 hrs is a long enough shift.

If I was a store owner, I wouldn't trust another individual keep it open so I could go home to sleep.

They have a saying in Southern Vermont about Burlington just being an extension of NY.

They say: "The best thing about Burlington is that it is so close to Vermont".
