Dear Zenobia, The Derby is a family tradition but um, that has got to be the ugliest darn horse I ever saw run i9n a Derby. ( raisin my mint julip and hoping it wins too!)

I put five bills on White Abarrio, but Zandon looks pretty damned strong, won't be surprised if I lose my duckies, lol.

Japanese owned horses did very well in Breeders Cup races last year. Crown Pride is a 'good' long shot bet.

Unfortunately, they're forecasting rain at Churchill Downs with 20 mph wind gusts. Weather Channel just said tailwinds at the start and headwinds heading to the finish line.

I live in the Bluegrass and the only good thing about Oaks and the derby are the bourbon and women.
No desire to watch humans sit on a horse and whip it.
Should make the jockeys run the race and have a whip taken to their asses.

I just talked to my old racing buddy and he is going to place the following bets for me:

#7 Crown Pride $4.00 to win

#8 Charge It $3.00 to win

#15 White Abarrio $3.00 to win

We were just joking around and I picked them from the list of the field by their names pretty much.

He said Crown Pride is Japanese and I liked that. We'll see, it's all in good fun.

I used to kind of follow the sport because my old friend was a big handicapper.

And we used to get some marginally decent coverage, but now it's just abysmal.

White Abarrio is a Darn good-looking horse both ways. But, I have him coming in third behind Cyberknife to win, and Epicenter second.

Fourth might be the dubious Zandon. I don't get the love.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Crown Pride. He could win or do well, and I left him out of my list.

He's banned from TwinSpires/Churchill Downs, isn't he?

Racing cattle would be a lot more interesting.

Oh hey....I'll drink another mint julep to my old days of driving down southeast for steeple chase!! I'm at home at one end of spectrum to the other and love rodeos, too.

Had the distinct pleasure of knowing an exact carbon copy of his kin, Secretariat. Owners had high hopes but having horses is a pricey thing.

WA is gorgeous, and the backstory has all the makings of a star, something about em, a certain genasaqua. Zandon just exudes a brute strength the others don't seem to have, to me anyway. Epicenter did strike my fancy as well.

Yeah, not the looker w/ long odds.

If I was a gamblin' soul, would throw something on this horse because bless his heart, he might be ugly but it's what's under the hood (in this case, above the hooves) that matters.

AND...he's a mudder! His stock his just risen considerably in my book. My first picks were for a fast dry track. I didn't even know it was raining colts and fillys there today until moments ago.

The race will post at 6:57 p.m.

I haven't even looked at any of these and only picked them by their names/positions and a bare glance at the odds, but I used to have fun with the old saying

That's the scariest conditions w/ a track like that. Seen too many tragedies, breaks my heart to see.

But yeah, if he's at home flinging mud while runnin' and the track is wet, even better.

May the patron saint of horse, St. Eligius, favor the bold and brave animals.

I put money on Ethereal Road yesterday and woke up this morning finding out he is scratched from the race.

What happens now?

Can I get a refund from the OTB?
