I can budget pretty damn good!

But not now!

We are running out of groceries before the end of the week here lately!

It’s either extra gas needed or something breaks down.

But the bills are piling up and can’t make ends meet for food each week!

And I don’t tell anyone so I’m sure there are other families suffering in silence also!

This is fucked up!

What the hell is to come?

Someone tell me this gets better and soon!

No way people can continue in a half descent society without enough money to keep food on the table.

It’s going to break soon.

I don’t see things bad for 2023 I’m seeing it as now, this year!

As our leader just sits around sending money to Ukraine!

I even owe the irs and can’t pay it!

Wtf and I supposed to do??!

Yep I’m just ignoring the envelope with the April date in it with the amount I owe on the inside.

I will call tomorrow :(

Sorry they messed you up too :/
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77610953

Plan to be on the phone all day, my wife has been trying to reach them over a matter for her father, just keeps getting a high call volume message and then a hang up, one day she finally got through and the person went to transfer her and boom another hang up! This has been going on for a week!
would rather have it & not need it then need it & not have it

I know how you feel OP. I have big medical bills I can't possibly pay. They will just have to wait.

Food is getting ridiculous. Some say eat more veggies, but those are expensive. Even store brand frozen veggies have almost doubled in price.

I have grown things in buckets before at my apartment, but had to throw them out because the dumb assholes that take care of our lawn sprayed them with poison.

Gas went down after the initial increase, but it's more back up again.

Things are going to get tighter.
 Quoting: Paranoiaaaaa

I am sorry you have medical bills just sitting there too.

It does cause stress because it’s always in the back of our minds.

And yes the price for even frozen vegs is outrageous!

I have a $25 dollar a month cell phone bill I’m going to let go!

I really need it but it’s something I can learn to live without.

Yes things are getting tighter and we have to make adjustments.

But damn this sucks!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77610953

Yes, those are just the hospital bills I can let go. I have to pay copays at my kidney guy up front. It may be only $30, but with more than one appointment a month, it adds up.

Plus there's medication. Its stuff that I need to live.

It's going to end up being a choice between meds and food, which I know a lot of seniors have had to do.

I was homeless. I categorized food by calorie to dollar ratios. Peanuts are best for price. Then beans. Rice is a cheap filler. I made ropa vieja when I could. Beans and rice. Meat when I can afford it. America is already going DOWN.

your staple foods
the foods u eat the most often
should come from fruit and veg
that costs a few dollars a kilo

its as simple as that

That's not fair when inflation is 8.4% last month. You don't know this person's situation!

My husband has an hour commute to work and gas prices are crazy for us. Luckily we are not low income, because I've been low income and can see how this could absolutely crush someone who is.

All I know to say is buckle down, and don't vote for people that do s*** like this to us. As an older person, I know that the government gives with one hand and takes with two, so don't expect or want any freebies because they will rip you a new butthole if you get anything.

If you have anything spare each week, even if it’s pennies, put it aside and save it up to buy heirloom seeds or seeder potatoes so when you have enough money saved you can plant some vegetables and start growing, I have no idea what I’m doing but I am saving for seeds and decent planting soil, once you can afford the seeds buy them and keep them in the freezer until you have enough for the potting soil, don’t buy pots use empty drink bottles, egg trays anything you can before they are ready to be planted out, growing is new to me too, I wish you luck but as long as you have the seeds and freeze them until you’re ready you’ll be ok. Everything you can grow yourself you don’t have to depend on the stores. It’s trial and error so make sure you have enough heirloom seeds, the others are modified to only produce for a limited time. If any one reads this and I’m wrong, please let me know as I’m new to this, any and all advice appreciated, I’m no expert and there is always someone that knows more than me so feel free to correct me.

Again, plant potatoes. You will have food for fall and will only need condiments. Add a little protein and some greens. You at least won’t starve.
