In Maine, our enclosed porch is "snapping" more than normal the past 24 hours. I keep checking to see if there are any earthquakes showing on IRIS.

We feel EQs near Iceland and on the Mid-Atlantic ridge the most often, so it's good to have an explanation for this latest odd occurrence.

Yeah, when this shit popped up on those threads, I was like 'oh hell, I'm gonna' have to go lie down in my neighbor's big field for hrs while the land rocks-n-rolls!'

What happend to that "Snake Event" guy, remember back when Canary Island La Palma was erupting there was that guy who said we were in the BIG ONE in near future, like this year. An event so big the entire faultlines would unzip.

You mean Worldwide megaquake ? Like 9.5 -10 magnitude.It's not possible in any terms to happen .We would see end of the World if mag 10 quake hit .No subduction zone is able to produce such event.Only meteor or asteroid strike could cause it

Yeh something like that, he said the plates were "locked" and just building pressure for the big one, he called it "Snake event" or something, and when it was to happen (later this year) can't remember his name.

considering we know very little about grand geology, I’m not sure I would believe that 100%. I think a 10 is possible, but would require an atypical process. All this theory assumes inside earth is solid, homogenous. We know this to not be true

It would require very long rupture along several subduction zones triggered by asteroid strike or supervolcano eruption like Yellowstone.In theory when 10.6 quake strikes the plates start to crack .It's ELE event to sum it up.But anything like 9 to 9.5 quake is possible and able to cause very long term consequences

Update for May 20 night time .Huge swarm started offshore of Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland! Looks like magma travelled south of previous swarm near Grindavik.It's under sea !
