We had one in South Jersey in late June 2012, and none of us had ever heard of a derecho.

We woke up to the wildest thing we'd ever seen, as if a thousand tornadoes had come through.

It took well over a week to restore power most places, and some people longer they had to abandon their homes because it wasn't just restoring the power ... all the poles were splintered ... even the ones in the storage lots ...

It was a huge mess - everything was indiscriminately splattered in areas where there is a very high population density. Several people including children camping in a state park died from falling trees.

Hoping those folks are able to recover quickly and have all the help and supplies they need.

A friend of mine called and said the next town over from her took damage from a tornado (in SD).

Funny about that is she was here in FL last month when hailstorm totaled out BOTH her and husbands cars!

Let's just keep blaming this on HAARP instead of acknowledging that all those pesky scientists around the world may have actually been right about the real cause for this kinda thing.

Nobody wants to know that HAARP was simply an enhanced spying tool for our government. Enhanced from Cold War DEW-line spying.

There is way too much severe weather globally now for anyone to have that much time to orchestrate it all.

I recently read he'd moved to SD, or one of the Dakotas. Hope he's okay. And that's probably why a friend of mine who was flying today was saying it was a very bumpy ride.

Those are some strong winds....they kinda-sorta rival our humidity dropping to 3% here in NM yesterday. I've never seen a humidity recording so low, save for it was 2% in Albuquerque. I was wondering if the whole State was going to spontaneously combust.

100 mph winds, though....that's some serious windage, with shit flying everywhere. Just 70 mph winds there was crap soaring through the air.

Thank you. I've been trying to tell people for the longest time now that a greenhouse effect is not, in fact, a liberal plot spearheaded by Al Gore. What liberals intend to do BECAUSE of climate change is another story... but it's real, and it's happening.

100 mph winds hit the Denver suburbs at the end of last year, and helped spread a wildfire that burned down over 1K homes. Truly awful.

It's only getting worse too. The winds, the fires. Everything.
