Many inventors didn't feel at home and created. White people created tech cause of winter, tropical folks had no need. Ancient tribes in Amazon no "real" need to change. People sometimes have to hit rock bottom to find the energy to change, sure they know they have to when chronic but when acute, well that can cause liftoff. Look at all the ingenious ways to split firewood. Overwhelming pain is certainly an inhibitor. A woman in screaming in childbirth isn't going to invent anything, though motivation after. PTSD and learned helplessness when pain is either too much or the feeling of powerlessness to effect change. |
