If it can be arraigned within six hours of the "event", I think it should enjoy its sixth amendment right to a speedy public trial. Let's say two weeks. The facts are straightforward enough, I don't see much investigation being necessary, neither prosecution nor defense. As if there's a defense to be mounted.
