I have been a Star Trek fan since the orginal TV show came out. This latest one seems to be true to the original series. I have only seen the first episode though. (It was free on the Roku Paramount channel of Pluto. Hey, just my opinion. All the other new Star Trek shows suck in my opinion. Justme |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78121322 They are so woke that I'll neve watch that show ever again. No. Just Christopher Pike as the Captain, a very Young Uhura. A vulcan guy that was pretty spocky. Classic type of mission. I was just happy to see a show that looks like it will respect the original Rodenberry vision. The first episode was very good I thought. But don't watch it if you are scarred for life. :) Last Edited by JustmeTX on 05/16/2022 10:55 PM Justme |

I'd say I'm surprised but that'd be a lie. Though to be fair that happened on Discovery I think and not this other Trek. I would have rooted for the Borg to assimilate Earth and the Federation or the Jem'Hadar to blast them to hell if I knew what was Trek would become as a whole. Lol. |

Western values, rescue the fair maiden, some cowboy diplomacy, a la shades of Kirk. Lots of common touch stones with the original. :) No Picard droning on endlassly about his parlimentary procedure. No woke Lesbian dike captain. I have high hopes. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 05/16/2022 11:05 PM Justme |

Poor taste? Certainly Low standards? without a doubt. But throwing the shill thing around is just low effort. |

Sure, it was much more lighthearted and comedic, but it was trek through and through. |

I liked TNG when it was originally aired, but after watching it for the last 30 effing years, I have grown to pretty much not like it. ANd DS9 I could never even watch 1 episode. The basic premise reminded me of a gas station in space. No exploring. Just a gas station. And the Ferengi were different than in TNG. A little continuity would be nice. If you lost the costumes, make up a new alien. Some Gorns running a bar might be interesting. And that guy made of silly putty. Gack! Just so awful. :) Before this, that McFarlane show was actually not bad I thought. DId it get cancelled? The Orville. Had to think for a second to remember the name. The horny green jello engineer was pretty cool. And having an Ex wife as #1 . Seth must be one huge trek fan. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 05/16/2022 11:22 PM Justme |

TOS and TNG are admittedly better Trek in the sense of staying true to Roddenberry's vision but DS9 is just as good if not better imo. It's just not "Trekking" as much so o can see why some people don't like that As for makeup.. well it's always changed I guess. See the Klingons over the years. Lol. As for the Ferengi personalities I think they kind of sucked as bad guys so don't mind they were made comic relief. Fortunately we got the Cardaissians and the Borg instead when they realized the Ferengi weren't great bad guys. If you watch one episode of DS9 to try to get you into the series... try the season 1 episode "Duet". Ds9 generally gets better the further it goes but Duet is an extremely powerful episode and one of the best in Ds9 and all of Trek for that matter |

Duet is a great way to spend 45 minutes and maybe the best guest star appearence in Trek history. It may be a little harder to get into DS9 as it's not so much trekking as TOS and TNG but once it gets going it's pretty damn good. More about politics, power struggles, factions and stuff while the other two are more exploration. I like both types at any rate lol |
