Why not consider the other side of that coin: Human technology is nothing but a ruse for alien technology?

What I mean is -- aliens using humans to develop technologies that aliens will then use... against humans.

A kind of: Have your enemy invent a gun that you will then use to shoot him in the head (once his usefulness to you expires), and be certain that you will always have the upper hand by brainwashing him into believing that he's doing it all for his own benefit, while also convincing him that you don't even exist?

Hey... that sounds suspiciously like a perfectly accurate description of Satan! ... or a very cunning A(G)I, since they're pretty much one and the same thing.
