I bought a house during the Clinton years. After I bought it property values dropped. I was embarrassed to tell anyone what I paid for it. I was not under water because I got a decent loan and made enough. It was an abandoned home on the California Coast. 30 years ago it was 233k. It was a mess. I cleaned it up enough to live in it. In 2005 when money was cheap I took a loan out and remodeled. The whole house. New plumbing. New electrical. New everything. Updated and approved. I don't know what it is worth today but I am not leaving. Almost paid off. It is a small home. Everyone and my mother, brother, siblings, nieces, nephews, and our own children have lived in this house. It was crowded but we survived. For a long time we only had one bathroom. The sad thing is everybody , native Californians, relatives, people I have known forever have left. Chinese are here now. Buying up everything. They want my house and bother me every day.
