New homes were going for 15,000 60 years ago. 30 years ago 14 grand might get you a shack--unless there was some special circumstances.

Anyway, just over 3 years ago I bought my current home, very nice area, 1900 sq feet ranch style, for 210 thousand. However, it was a short sale. It is currently worth about 400,000 thousand and going up fast. I will sell and move even further from any big city. I'm planning on paying cash the next time.
