They send the money they make here back to Mexico and the triangle states, where $7.25/hr is a great deal! They take it out of our economy and they block teens and retired people from taking the low paid jobs.

Meanwhile, they live 20 people to a house so that they can pay the bills while making minimum wage.

Re: Stock market collapsing
A LOT of bankruptcies are coming.

Stores, restaurants, manufacturers, people.

There will do anything to reduce the demand to hide the rate of decline.

Next up - laws to override zoning and programming to nudge people that high density urban living is not only the responsible way to live, but the cool way!

Suburbs, your own vehicle, land of your own... all expensive... all 'not-green', all tacky.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21006153

Yes, especially the restaurants. How are they going to keep passing on prices when the food gets too expensive?
 Quoting: Pugnisher

That's easy - they will.. then business will slow down. Then they'll pretend it is only 'temporary' and eventually they will close.

Basically the only ones to survive will be within hot trendy areas (gov/sick care/education) and/or those who the owner rolls up their sleeves and really works hard.

That means getting rid of all the leeches (e.g. the sis in law who 'manages the front of the house') and serving the community.

Even POOR countries have restaurants. But the profits are the slim line where the specialization savings are enough to make it not much more to eat out than to cook yourself.

The whole operating model of management heavy restaurants is going to collapse.

Good thing for those who work their butts off... there will be plenty of work for them (cook, server, washer, appliance repair, etc.).
Their standard of living will go down too... but at least they can eat.

Good luck 'gender studying' yourself to food.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21006153

I spent at least 10 years in the restaurant industry...this has been a tactical take down. Destruction of small businesses and especially those that allow the people to congregate and socialize.

Restaurants always ran on a thin margin razor. Most of those people, even the restaurant owners, aren't making much money. They do it because that's what they enjoy.

I hate to say it, but I don't think they're going to survive. TPTB don't want people congregating.

LOW OF THE DAY WAS 31,496
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83295475

I am remembering just about Trump's second term, we hit 30k? So, this is only giving gains up from Biden years? Did anyone expect to even go up at all? I expected the stock market to tank with him as president...no surprise, here.

As for the rich guys. It is called taking risk and business. Amazon makes 1 cent on selling 40 trillion gadgets. You set up a business and learn how to advertise and move product like that. Both Tesla and Amazon are amazing. Both improving Ford's assembly line 100 fold. I applaud them. As for taxing them, go ahead but we need to create a 10 percent minimum tax. The poor folk need to be part of the society. If you are under 55, and on public assistance, you need to either pay 10 percent or donate time somehow. I love Cinemart, hiring folk in wheelchairs to take tickets. Simple example. I remember traveling in Spain in the 1970s and every public restroom had a person there to clean and make sure no trouble was happening. Much better than welfare. When you disenfranchise folk, they stop caring. Anyway, it is all NOT what the government was meant to be for..it was NOT to be our parents. Parents and grandparents, family, used to take responsibility for the lives they brought into the world. America has grown far, far away from that, making Mama Hillary and Daddy Bill the parents, with the populace upset that they have to live in the nest with people who don't pay enough and with people who don't pay anything. Kick them out! Make them pay! Thank You Socialism.

Pure logic,

Chineses don't want the fat cats to grab their assets and funds located in western banks, brokerage, speculative funds ect you name it, when they will unleash their take over of Taiwan.

The writing is on the wall,

Billions and billions are leaving the market place, when the word will spread across the board, there's gonna be a sell off to stop losses, the fall will then suddenly accelerate.

Mmmm i don't agree with that,

Is China preparing to invade Taiwan? Beijing orders officials to find ways to protect the nation from western sanctions like those used against Russia

China held an emergency meeting with regulators in anticipation of sanctions

The regime is seeking to protect its $3.2trillion in foreign currency reserves

Banking officials from HSBC and other international lenders were invited

The West is said to be considering sanctions in the event China invades Taiwan

China has stepped up military activity in the region as the US held high-level talks with its allies, including the UK, over the possibility of a Chinese invasion
