"76" Gas stations in Washington reprogram pumps to prepare for $10-a-gallon fuel

Back in the days when gas was under $1 the pumps had the mechanical numbers and not enough digits to go to $1 a gallon. I was pretty young and as it approached $1 a gallon I figured they were fucked, but nope I was wrong, they just changed the price to 50 cents/half gallon. It wasn’t long after that all the pumps were replaced.

Back in the late 90s I was paying about 75-80 cents a gallon.

Does anyone remember how cheap gas was before 9/11.

I remember throwing 10 or 15 bucks of fuel in my truck and I was good for the week.

I was maybe 16 or 17 and the world was still my oyster.

When we had the "Arab Oil Embargo" Gas first hit $1 per gallon. You could only fill up on an odd or even day. (Depending on the last digit of your license plate.) People were flipping out then. I believe 1979. Iran oil embargo.

Its the only way to stop global warming
