RAPTURE Comes from Latin Word RAPTURA Meaning ABDUCTION and RAPE !!!
I'm not saying it's the aliens, but ...

IT'S THE ALIENS

RAPTURE

Borrowed from Middle French rapture, from Latin raptūra, future active participle of rapiō (“snatch, carry off”)

snatch, grab, carry off, abduct, rape

From Proto-Italic *rapiō[1], perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *h₁rp-i-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁rep- (“to snatch”)

Extreme pleasure, happiness or excitement.

In some forms of fundamentalist Protestant eschatology, the event when Jesus returns and gathers the souls of living and deceased believers. (Usually "the rapture".)

(obsolete) The act of kidnapping or abducting, especially the forceful carrying off of a woman.

(obsolete) Rape; ravishment; sexual violation.

(obsolete) The act of carrying, conveying, transporting or sweeping along by force of movement; the force of such movement; the fact of being carried along by such movement.

RAPE

From Middle English rapen, rappen (“to abduct; ravish; seduce; rape; seize; snatch; carry off; transport”),

probably from Latin rapere (verb), possibly through or influenced by Anglo-Norman rap, rape (noun) (compare also ravish).
But compare Swedish rappa (“to snatch, seize, carry off”),

Low German rapen (“to snatch, seize”),

Dutch rapen (“to pick up, gather, collect”); the relationship with Germanic forms is not clear. Cognate with Lithuanian reikėti (“to be in need”). Compare also rap (“seize, snatch”).
Noun

rape (countable and uncountable, plural rapes)

(now rare) The taking of something by force; seizure, plunder. [from early 14th c.]

(now archaic) The abduction of a woman, especially for sexual purposes. [from 15th c.]

The Rapture/Rape of the Sabine Women

The Rape of the Sabine Women (Latin: Sabinae raptae), also known as the Abduction of the Sabine Women or the Kidnapping of the Sabine Women, was an incident in Roman mythology in which the men of Rome committed a mass abduction of young women from the other cities in the region. It has been a frequent subject of painters and sculptors, particularly during the Renaissance and post-Renaissance eras.

In total, thirty Sabine women were abducted by the Romans at the festival. All of the women abducted at the festival were said to have been virgins except for one married woman, Hersilia, who became Romulus' wife and would later be the one to intervene and stop the ensuing war between the Romans and the Sabines. The indignant abductees were soon implored by Romulus to accept the Roman men as their new husbands.

The word "rape" (cognate with "rapto" in Portuguese and other Romance languages, meaning "kidnap") is the conventional translation of the Latin word raptio used in the ancient accounts of the incident. Modern scholars tend to interpret the word as "abduction" or "kidnapping" as opposed to a sexual assault.

The Rape of Lucretia

According to Roman tradition, Lucretia, anglicized as Lucrece, was a noblewoman in ancient Rome, whose rape by Sextus Tarquinius (Tarquin) and subsequent suicide precipitated a rebellion that overthrew the Roman monarchy and led to the transition of Roman government from a kingdom to a republic.

The incident kindled the flames of dissatisfaction over the tyrannical methods of Tarquin's father, Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, the last king of Rome. As a result, the prominent families instituted a republic, drove the extensive royal family of Tarquin from Rome, and successfully defended the republic against attempted Etruscan and Latin intervention.

Fundamentalist Evangelicals conceive the Rapture as a physical abduction by the Heavenly Host ...

Host comes from the Latin root hostis that means enemy, stranger, alien

In the Bible Lord of Sabaoth is the Commander of Army or Commander of the Space Forces....

what the heck is going on ...

people get confused like this talented patriotic (he packed serious heat) musician

while the Evangelicals hope to get saved by abduction, the QAnon adherents expect great things from Trump's Heavenly Host or Space Force ...

when POTUS got the Rona, some QAnoners analyzed the videos that had Trump speaking allegedly at a Military Hospital and concluded that they were actually shot in and transmitted from a spacecraft operated by the Military White Hat Space Force Patriots ...

is the Space Force, the new branch of the US Military that Trump created actually operating in space?

Like the one you were discussing.

The common meaning per the dictionary:

rapture
noun
1. a feeling of intense pleasure or joy

Example: "Leonora listened with rapture"

ecstasy
bliss
euphoria
elation
exaltation
joy
joyfulness
joyousness

2. (according to some millenarian teaching) the transporting of believers to heaven at the Second Coming of Christ

Example: "thousands of Christians gathered outside Rochester and other cities, awaiting the Rapture"

That is totally different than the meaning in Latin.

I run into this all the time as I switch between English and Spanish. Similar words with very different meanings.

it's not different but the same... for Christians the Rapture means being carried away literally

but bliss elation etc means getting carried away metaphorically, they are the derived meanings ....

the original meaning was to snatch, carry off it's indeed very much the same as the Christian fundamentalist meaning
