WASHINGTON, May 17. /tass/. The US Air Force reported on the successful testing of a prototype hypersonic weapon under the ARRW (Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon) program. This is stated in a written statement distributed on Monday.

The strategic bomber of the US Air Force Boeing B-52H Stratofortress "on May 14, off the coast in southern California, successfully launched" the AGM-183A hypersonic missile developed under the ARRW program, the document says. After separation from the aircraft, the unit "ignited and burned for the expected time, reaching a hypersonic speed five times the speed of sound."

The US Air Force noted that "the test was carried out flawlessly" and the US is "doing everything possible to provide this unique weapon to American servicemen as soon as possible."

At the end of March, the representative of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, Vice Admiral Ron Boxall, said that the United States expects to deploy three batteries of long-range hypersonic missiles and four medium-range batteries in the next five years. According to him, the US administration's plans "include the deployment of hypersonic [weapons] on land, air and sea-based platforms." He clarified that the authorities hope to complete the development of a prototype hypersonic weapon under the ARRW program and the deployment of a hypersonic air-launched cruise missile on F-15 fighter-bombers in 2027. The US might have some undisclosed nuclear war capabilites in defense or offense, but they have screwed up royally if they have not disclosed it.

With the advent of hypersonic maneuvering ICBMs, 100 MT Nuclear torpedoes, in addition to the standard nuclear Triad, The US loses a nuclear war with them. Russia would be damaged and bloodied, but would survive. At least, going by information that is publicly disclosed.

If the US still has nuclear parity with Russia, not disclosing this is a MASSIVE mistake.

I doubt anyone will be using missiles to take out entire GPS satellite arrays. The amount of high speed debris fragments that would create would pose too much hazard to everything else in orbit.

Satellites I think would be taken out with lasers or particle beam weapons, or localized EMP.

But I don't think they will be blowing shit up in orbit.

"Appropriate Directed Energy Weapons" seems to be the buzz word.

I think lasers are also not the plan, because the target can rather easily be equipped with ablative or reflective shielding, which it might need anyway to survive re-entry in the case of ICBMs, and to survive solar exposure in the case of satellites.

Particle beams would be my guess, or maybe localized EMPs, as the situation might call for.
