Liberal or conservative, leftwing or rightwing, look straight into the face of a person and ask him or her just how honest, rational, sensible, practical, ethical, empathetic and compassionate he or she is.

Generally, if that person leans left, he'll be weak in some or all of those key traits. And all those traits have to work together in a bundle to be worth a damn.
