I like the idea of a license but not to have the gun. WE have the right to bear arms. However, we do not have the right to use them except for self defense. I believe along with tens of millions of people that you should have a license to "Fire the gun only". By having the the license to fire the gun, then you must be properly trained and educated to handle the weapon for each weapon of choice and be totally responsible for the use of the gun. The minimum age shall be set at 16 for the license. A learners permit with a licensed adult should be allowed for hunting at a younger age too. Its just like driving a vehicle. You can own the vehicle but you cannot drive the vehicle until you are licensed. If you are caught without a license in the act of any felony using the gun, mandatory five to ten years with no parole in a federal prison and a permanent loss of the use of carrying a firearm. Further felony charges after the initial charge will carry a 25 year sentence with no chance of parole if the felon continues to ignore the law.That will stop strong arm robberies for sure. All Murder charges by using an unlicensed gun, (Gangster/drive by) automatic 25 years in a fed prison with no parole added on to the felony. Lastly using an unlicensed firearm in any felony carries also carries the same penalties as well.
