Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79635885 So Republicans there didn’t block it like they did in Minnesota? How much money did they get from the cannabis lobby? Not as much as they got from opiate manufacturers to block legalization of medical marijuana: [link to www.usnews.com (secure)] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79321129 United States 05/21/2022 05:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Minnesota’s Republican-controlled Senate on Wednesday blocked Democrats’ move to advance a marijuana legalization bill that’s been stalled in committee. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82302642 Democratic Senate Minority Leader Melisa López Franzen (D) announced her plans to bring the issue up for consideration on the chamber floor through a procedural mechanism that would have required a supermajority of 41 votes to advance. As was expected, the motion failed to reach that threshold in the GOP-run body. The process López Franzen sought to use is called recall from committee. The Senate legalization bill was referred to committee in February 2021, but it did not advance. Democrats sought to leverage that process to skip committee consideration and bring it straight to the floor for consideration. “Minnesotans want to have this discussion and conversation about legalization of cannabis,” she said. “They broadly support moving ahead with this legislation. They expect us to debate the merits of this proposal and not block the conversation from happening.” But the motion was defeated in a 31-33 vote. Also I believe they have a law against cunnilingus or anything but missionary. |

In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined: With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world, And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor. Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator. “Looking for consciousness in the brain is like looking in the radio for the announcer.” – Nasseim Haramein, Director of Research for the Resonance Project |

But I would never vote democrat. Leave my gun rights alone. Smoke all you want; just be sober for work Monday morning. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79261097 United States 05/21/2022 06:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The nanny state doesn’t work. Either people are free or they’re not. All power should be returned to the people. Government interference only increases the problem.. The war on drugs did more to strengthen the police state than anything. Yet, even with militarized police forces, drugs still run rampant. Ron Paul had it right. That’s why the Republicans did everything they could to silence that man. People have a seething hatred for marijuana it seems. Even though the vast majority of drug related offenses are due to alcohol. Somehow, alcohol isn’t given the same treatment. Odd, isn’t it? Lazy people will be lazy whether or not they smoke marijuana. Likewise, productive people will be productive whether or not they smoke marijuana. The vaccine is a perfect example. The powers that this government displayed insomuch as they threatened the livelihoods of law abiding Americans, is deplorable. The problem is here. If we allow the government to dictate terms to what we can’t put into our bodies, they will, by default, also gain the ability to tell us what we have to put in our bodies. I’m not a fan of drug use but I’m even less of a fan of government intrusion. We must strip away the power and control this government has over the population utterly and completely. We cannot look to them for salvation. We cannot allow ourselves to be manipulated. We can clearly see now where that gets us. It gets us in chains. |
