Re: The Mystery of the Essenes
It's been a long time since I really delved in to the dead Sea Scrolld so I just make some general comparisions.

I've found no phrophecy in the Dead Sea Scrolls talking about Jesus' death in 32ad

The Essenes were let back in to Jerusalem after centuries on banishment by Herod. The told Herod he would be King and it came true.

There's a very good chance the Essenes were, in some part, the Herodians

Jesus admonished the Essenes many times-The Essenes were a secret society. They few Essenes were let in. This was contrary to what Jesus taught. Jesus taught the opposite

The Essenes taught to kill your enemies, Jesus said to forgive them

There are so many more examples that show the Essenes hated Jesus.

The nailing to a tree was very much an Essene form of punishment, but only for one transgression. Being a traitor.

It's quite possible John the Baptists was an ex Essenes though.

Many of Jesus's teachings appear to admonish the Essenes, and a few seem to praise them.

They weren't predicting a Messiah like Jesus to appear. They were expecting a Messiah to come with vengeance.

The teacher(or what he was referred to, who was nailed to a tree was 150 years before Christ. It's clear in the scrolls.

Like I said, it's been a long time since I studied this so I'm not really going in to detail here

People here just have to watch the video.
 Quoting: Just†Me

Don't need to watch a video. I've read the scrolls and many scholarly books on the Essenes from Christians authors to historical researchers

It's likely the Essenes, at the very least, were allied with the Herodians

Find me one thing in Gue-ish law at the time that used nailing to a tree as a punishment. It was only the Essenes.

The Essenes were a SECRET SOCIETY. THAT IS FACT

As opposed to a video? Does he go through all the scrolls? I'm pretty sure he picks and chooses.

I've read the scrolls. Maybe you should too.

I BELIEVE THE SCROLLS SUPPORT AND GIVE EVIDENCE THAT THE NT IS TRUE.

Just not the way they are being described here.

I've said my opinion. If you want to counter any of it, please do.

Until then all you say is watch a video. I'll pass. I know how the scrolls can be twisted to support anything you want. You need to research who the Essenes were. Why they were banished. Why Herod let them back in. The vast differences between what Jesus taught and what the Essenes taught.

So now the dead sea scrolls are scripture? They are essential to my salvation?

A long path? You've countered nothing I've said, except watch a video.

How about you read a book

I'm not trying to be argumentative.

I've said the Dead Sea Scrolls give evidence the NT is true.

Not sure why the scrolls are essential to your salvation.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50451071

A snake can talk but not in the ordinary sense of communicating.

It is rather by projection; as in the psychological phenomenon.

I've told this story here before, but it never gets old for me.

My friend had dropped some acid and was tripping.
According to his brother he had gone out to check his mail.
While checking the mail he got into a serious argument with his mailbox.

So, if your mailbox can talk, then it's no problem for a snake. -Likewise I've heard people say that things like a
slot-machine talked to them. A friend was leaving the casino
when a slot talked to him, so he put in some money and hit the jackpot.

QED
The snake story checks out!
 Quoting: tamaracks 82351525

so what did the mailbox say?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78086396

Apparently the mailbox told him something that he didn't like and he was calling it liar and so on for quite a while.
His brother told me the story.

I honestly don't know if the mailbox was lying or telling the hard truth. prob. the truth if it came from his subconscious.

Re: The Mystery of the Essenes
The Word of God is the truth that was present long before written texts and that has always been an essential part of man in his journey towards understanding; perfecting his conscience every day according to what he is capable of discerning. It is the true intention of creation, a voice that emanates from the sincere reflection of anyone. The Word of God can be seen in the exceptional deeds of men; sometimes it is embodied in books, and other times is transmitted by word of mouth, but it will never belong to a particular religion alone. That is the Word of God, beyond human patent, with no religion, present from the beginning and triumphant at the end.

Only through a still and humble heart can one hear and understand the word of the Eternal One. This was the path of the Essenes.

alot... it lines up with christianity, both in theology and understanding of scripture. They have their own prophesies too written around year 2-300 before Christ, prophesying of his death on the cross in 32 AD.

We can also know the OT has been preserved since its 1000 years older than the masoretic text.

prophesies on Christ's death? oh so it's fake news.

yea, OT has been distorted since a long time, I'm sure.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78086396

you have to cling on to lies like that, without a shred of evidence ofcourse because all evidence proves the old testament is preserved and that Christ was crucified is one of the most certain facts of history (acording to secular scholars, see wiki article below), but if you were to admit that you cant be a muslim anymore. So you have to lie. Good luck with explaining that to God on judgement day.

Re: The Mystery of the Essenes
The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947 was one of the most shocking archaeological discoveries in history. Even more amazing is the discovery of the ancient writings of the Essenes and their understanding of the Old Testament prophecies concerning the coming Messiah. How amazing is it to go back 2,000 years in time and read about the prophecies of the Messiah, fulfilled perfectly by Jesus Christ, even down to the very year of his crucifixion in 32AD!

Essenes were conman and illusionists. Jesus went up to them and showed them some real ‘ magic ‘. If you really wanna know life , read Jacob Lorber.
