How does peanut butter get salmonella? Serious question. Isn't it just peanuts and oil?

The recalled products have lot code numbers between 1274425 – 2140425 and include the numbers 425 for the 5th-7th digits. "425" in that position indicates that it was processed in the Lexington facility

My guess is that the peanut butter, during processing when being made, got out of proper range in TEMPERATURE, OR they used PEANUTS that were tainted with salmonella to make the peanut butter.

By the way, it's SUPER EASY to make your own peanut butter. Just put peanuts and a little olive oil into a blender and blend into peanut butter. Takes no skill at all.
