CCHF is a common endemic in this region, usually 20 or so cases are diagnosed in a yr. The high number of cases in the past 2 weeks is slightly concerning and something to keep an eye on.

If anyone follows middle east conflicts, "Erbil" the city in which the first case was reported would know that there is a potential for a bio terrorism attack. Here's what the NIH says on it.

I see treatment for the argentine strain is ribavirin. I seem to remember reading something about fauci being personally heavily invested in the manufacturing and promotion of that drug if my memory serves me correctly.
