Any tech gurus out there able to do some deep digging on why there are so many low energy BLE signatures with mac addresses to respironics inc?

Many of the mac addresses i look up come back as "not found" as well

Anyone know a better database than macvendors dot com

Cpaps have always recoded data concerning their use. Before it was saved to sdcard so you could take to your provider. Now all that data is synced to your phone via Bluetooth and then uploaded to the web and shared with your provider. To better help manage patient therapy. Many medical devices are either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

To add to that, Respironics is the major CPAP manufacturer. They recently had a recall on their old devices in been shipping out new ones that have Bluetooth enabled

These tags can locate medical appliances in a building, as well as collect and push data.

A company I worked for used them on construction sites to keep track of tools.

There are several types of networks that the devices use to connect together and push data along between themselves in a mostly peer to peer fashion until they reach a unit that is connected to a wifi (The Gateway), or a device that provides or uses the data.

Zigbee, Thread, Bluetooth mesh, Z mesh, Z-Wave are each a mesh networking protocol and each has unique characteristics and benefits. Different wave lengths, different transmission distances, different speeds, encrypted, non-encrypted, free and open source, vs licensed, etc. Some will save a lot of energy and be tolerant to disconnections from the network (sleepy protocol), others will burn more power trying like crazy to connect.

Devices are generally Gateways, repeaters or endpoints.

In a Nursing home, all of the newer medical devices
I assume would connect on a Blue Tooth Low Energy Mesh network. Various patient monitors, and life support devices would likely all be on the network.

lots and lots of medical equipt is blue tooth now, esp bipap and cpap so the central sleep study person can gather data from the leads etc as well as form the bipap

the only way to confirm if ppl are imitting a mac address is to isolate them from every electronic device cut all blue tooth then scan and see if just 1 shows up then have them walk away etc

Alot of CPAP machines have cellular access builtin to them and send their data straight to the Dr. I would imagine that if any new machines have Bluetooth it would only be so that the user could get data synced to their phone otherwise what would use would it serve.


I can tell you that my CPAP doesn't have Bluetooth.

For bluetooth devices, there are randomly generated mac adresses, they are not look-up-able. They should always be suffixed with a 11 if they are static, a 10 if they are private and resolvable, 01 if they are private and unresolvable.

I have an app called "Dream Mapper" that downloads the metrics from the CPAP machine over bluetooth.
