A well-ranked school district near me has the grades broken up this way:

PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12

so rather than having multiple elementary schools by location, you split the years. Maybe in Uvalde they have PreK-1, 2-4, 5-6, 7-9 (Junior High school), 10-12.
