There are stories about that, for instance when Canada was being explored the only thing those guys could find to eat was rabbits, but it could not sustain them. I've always heard that but people seem to raise them anyway so who knows.

I heard that in the old days, in very cold climates, they raised rabbits under the house for a heat source and food later

I bet it has to do with what the rabbits ate IN THAT AREA. Maybe the rabbits were starving due to lack of good plants for them to eat in that area, and then they were ate by people who didn't get enough nutrients because the rabbits were so poorly nourished.

I kind of bothers me until the deed is done. I have chopped off the heads of a few. I have shot, skinned and gutted hundreds of cottontail rabbits in the field while hunting over my lifetime. I have cooked and eaten them too. They taste pretty good if properly cleaned and prepared. I think that it is better to hunt them in the wild than it is to raise them for slaughter. Maybe try chickens instead. They lay lots of tasty, protein filled, nutritious eggs and you can eat the chickens too.

I’ve raised and slaughtered pigs, goats, chickens and rabbits. Rabbits are an easy project that is very manageable to raise and process. They are also not grain(petrol) dependant so extremely sustainable.

I don't have patience for hunting or fishing, at ALL. I'm more of a farmer mindset, because I was raised on a farm. We went hunting and fishing, but to me it always seems like tedious work. And butchering a deer really seems like a pain in the mass. Butchering a tiny rabbit is about as easy as cleaning a fish.

If you only eat potatoes they are not a complete nutrient, therefore dont raise or eat potatoes. See how fucking stupid this shit sounds.

Way easier than dressing butchering a deer. Chickens are way more of a pain in the ass too. Rabbits just peel like a banana. Easy to send them to freezer camp. If ya garden they are also incredible at fertilizer creation.
