Because of man's big brain and self awareness, man fears death, and so religion was invented and told the fearful sheep that when you die you don't die. The only reason why religion even exists is because of this self awareness, no other animal has this problem, so no animal worships god or fears death like we do.

We fear death because we fear non-existence, and we have this fear only because we have self-awareness.
