They were bought off with high pay, unsustainable pensions, cheap real estate and the ability to capitalize on that. In the meantime something insidious crept into our system and was completely ignored and they let it happen. Us Gen x people got to watch it. We understand it better then anyone. Boomers wont admit it, they like to think they were hard workers and deserve everything they got and everyone younger is a lazy fuck. Younger generations dont even remember what America was really like in the 70s and earlier. That disconnect is what caused the ability to so easily manipulate us. Gen x grew up during the change and can look back with some introspection and realize what happened to us.

Imho, it just so happened that our generation with the help of the Internet has become able to appreciate the "big picture" that shows from country to country, from region to region, tells and proves that past generations have fucked up a lot of things and our future is also already fucked up.
