Not in the guys yard. Yeah, as much as I don’t think that dog was going to attack the cop, that cop doesn’t know that. Keep your dog locked up in the house, yard or leash while police are around. Quoting: Somnium Through my long life I have probably seen hundreds of loose dogs. It just happens sometimes. Maybe it broke free from its leash, maybe it dug a hole under its fence, maybe it bolted out the door - it happens. I know this guy may have chosen to keep his dog off the leash, so that does not exactly apply to him, but the point is I have been approached by numerous loose dogs, and none have attacked me. The overwhelming majority of dogs are not hostile. When they approach a person, it's almost always not to attack them. Being able to read the difference between an aggressive hostile dog and a dog that just wants to sniff you and be pet by you should be mandatory training for police. In this case, while the cop may have been technically within their rights to shoot the dog, it doesn't mean that they should have shot the dog. I am sick of police mindlessly following protocol, using the very limit of violence that is allowed to them in every situation. In the past, police used to try to read things and respond with minimal force. Their "protocol" has taken the human element out of policing. They are the NWO. |

Do you really need to fine the man I think he was fined enough loosing his bestfriend. Also to the cop your a coward. |

If these dog owners don't care about other people's lives, then they should definitely be fined. |

Put the dog on a leash and under your immediate control and you greatly reduce the chances of a misunderstanding like this. I would even argue that a leash is still not enough. Those pit bulls or other big dogs can power themselves with enough strength that most dog owners would be caught by surprise and not able to stop them. A dog should be considered a dangerous weapon. And dog owners that take their big dangerous dogs to parks should have mandatory insurance on their dogs should anyone be harmed by them. |

They escaped from the fenced back yard and were roaming the neighborhood. I was attempting to go to their front door to tell them when I was confronted by the male dog who appeared ready to attack. I managed not to panic but remained calm while slowly backing away. Anyone not very concerned in such a situation is not a wise person. Now the $700 dollars may seem like a lot, but how else are you going to discourage people from dangerous behavior. Now go ahead and call someone you know nothing about a PUSSY.
