So mote it be! Lucifer, like Christ, stands at the door of man's consciousness and knocks. If any man says "Go away because I do not like what you represent, and I am afraid of you." Lucifer will play tricks on that fellow. If any man says "Come in, and I will give you the treat of my love and understanding and I will uplift you in the light and presence of the Christ, my outflow", then Lucifer become something else again. He becomes the being who carries the great treat, the ultimate treat, the light of wisdom. Until an individual has come to realize that his essence, like God's essence, is to be a cosmic adventurer, who moves bravely, confidently, lovingly, wisely, into increasing fields of revelation and unfoldment, then he will fear change. Lucifer is literally the angel of experience. An experience, all experience, brings change to us, in that there is no such thing as an old experience. Each experience is new and if we are open to that newness it means we have to change and grow to some extent as being part of their being. By not accepting they maintain themselves in a state of separation, of inner division, inner conflict. But any being who can move forward into the fullness of what he is and say, "I am a whole being. I am the Christ. I am one with my Beloved. I am attuned to the wholeness of God. I release to this and give reign over my life", in that being Lucifer is freed and the Luciferic element within his consciousness is no longer a tester or challenger. It becomes the true revealer of light, the angel of light, the light of wisdom, the light of the microcosm releaveled, the light which is then no longer hid under the bushel of self but revealed as a beacon to illumate the way for others consciousness and attuned is through the Christ. But the light that reveals to us the presence of the Christ, the light that releaves to us the path to the Christ comes from Lucifer. He is the light giver. He is aptly named the Morning Star because it is his light that heralds for man the dawn of a greater consciousness. He is present when that dawn is realized. He stand no longer as the tester or the tempter but as the one who hands the soul over to the Christ and from the Christ on into even greater realms.  But this may be said here, that those who have attained high spiritual powers and have misused them, have a terrible fate in store for them, and the swing of the pendulum of Rhythm will inevitably swing them back to the furthest extreme of Material existence, from which point they must retrace their steps Spiritward, along the weary rounds of The Path, but always with the added torture of having always with them a lingering memory of the heights from which they fell owing to their evil actions. The legends of the Fallen Angels have a basis in actual facts, as all advanced occultists know. The striving for selfish power on the Spiritual Planes inevitably results in the selfish soul losing its spiritual balance and falling back as far as it had previously risen. But to even such a soul, the opportunity of a return is given–and such souls make the return journey, paying the terrible penalty according to the invariable Law. - The Kybalion |
