A legend of his own, who I was blessed to get to know when we first exchanged messages about my avatar, with Buster Keaton in it. Di y'all know that Buster Keaton and his wife were The Old Timer's god parents? [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] So here's to getting to 100 and beyond my dear friend! Forever onward we go! Much love to you and your beautiful wife. |

I love your contributions here on glp. I'll give you one for a secret to long life... I have never forgotten it. When I first started writing in Hollywood... I was a 20-something and working at an event backstage with George Burns Paul Newman Etc many funny stories there. Meanwhile mr. Burns asked me to be his dinner companion he was wont to ask the pretty young starlets to dinner evidently. He was a complete and total gentleman ..of course Very witty and I was kind of a bubble head so he probably enjoyed my Gracie qualities and because of sitting with him I met every celebrity there...they came up to our table to pay him homage. It was quite a heady night for this newcomer to Los Angeles. I believe he was around 98 years old when I ran into him again on The Tonight Show a year later he completely remembers me and my name. I found him truly amazing. In between me stammering and bubble-headed remarks I finally had the courage at the end to say mr. Burns what's your secret and any advice on a newcomer to the business? He studied me for a minute and said "I like you so I'm going to tell you the secret is do what you love and love what you do that's all it takes" I like you old-timer and your posts so that's my birthday wish for you ...big hug and many more |
