Coffee

Chocolate

Sugar

Flour

Grains

Beans

Booze, hard liquor, wine, beer

Paper products

Light bulbs

Pharmacy stuff, personal hygiene, pain killers etc etc

Beer and flour don't last 18 months. You probably would buy whole canned wheat berries, then grind them into flour.

I'm curious -

What should we buy now - looking 18 months in the future?

We all see the writing on the wall.
Which products or items will see the highest inflation?
What could we buy now, to save 18 months down the line?

Prescriptions? Try and get off all your meds first. Buy a second pair of eye glasses. Good boots is a must.

Remember, unless your underground, and high up on a mountain, you may as well kiss your ass goodbye during the event. If the grid goes down first, which it will, then plan what you would need if POWER goes out. The solar generator should be buried underground in a Faraday cage is my choice, then water filters and flour, to start.

I have my ammo and storage food preps, but the power item is next on my list.

se are doing the following:
1. making sure the weapons we have on hand are optimized: adding in night vision, suppressors, and upgrading sights and such to make sure our go to guns are the most reliable and as effective as they can be.
2. FOOD, we are raising chickens for meat and eggs
3. security, we are improving the security around the homestead. Fencing, gates, dogs, keeping the area around the housse free or cover and concealment
4. Energy storage: Toping off the propane tanks, adding in solar power, topping off fuel reserves
5. communication: making sure all radios are all working, ADDING backup power to the repeater, running nightly radio NETS on local PrePPER designated channels so the COMMUNITY SKILLS so not get stale.
support my local preppers as much as possible to continue to build community.

the stuff I"m buying is prioritized to the list above

I'm thinking about buying a bunch of alchol for barter purposes

A virtual reality system that has applications that teach you about all the guns and put you in combat situations with others so you get some kind of exposure to conflicts. How to work as a team. How to duck. Hand signals etc.

Looked through the thread and did not see anyone mention having your own way to reload bullets. You can get kits for this and purchase everything you need to load your own ammo? That seems to me to be a huge need.

I think this may be the last calm summer for a long time, so i suggest to use it to enjoy yourselves, visit a place you always wanted to see, or test a potential bugout destination -or a stop on the road to it- (offroad maps, places to camp, test your camping equipment etc).

Buy a new car. Something solid and practical, not flashy. 4x4. Install tow hitch for the trailer.
For your car: set of tires, filters, oil, windshield wipers.
Buy a good bicycle with a cargo attachment. If you have money buy some more bikes, you can sell them later.
Tea, coffee, chocolate. As much as you can, unless it is grown and produced in your country.

Re: What should we buy now - looking 18 months in the future?
For things that will see the highest inflation, I would think in terms of canned meat (prices are already skyrocketing but you can still find deals, i.e., RiteAid has canned Dak brand ham one pound on sale for $3.00...it's closer to $10.00 at Walmart)

You can easily freeze eggs to last through the year. Find a sale, buy ten dozen, crack six at time, scramble and pour into ziplock freezer bags, freeze flat)

Wheat prices are going through the roof. Buy flour and store properly, and also buy wheat berries to grind for flour next year.

Bulk 25 pound bags of beans and white rice. Lots of inexpensive calories as a base to your diet.

Dehydrated milk powder.

Coffee in vacuum sealed metal cans (Kirkland brand is good).

Couple of bottles of vodka.

For general bug-out or bug-in end times, if you have a large budget, buy a Ford F150 with largest size onboard generator. It has enough wattage to power your entire house. Also makes a great bug out vehicle. Or just get a duel fuel gas/propane generator for intermittent use during emergency event.

For the rest of us on normal budget, here are a few random ideas:

Car stuff:
Windshield wipers
Tires
Car oil and oil filter
Transmission fluid
Anti-freeze
Car battery

Medical/hygiene:
Tagamet brand antacid which cures shingles in a couple of days
Colloidal silver for general infection/illness
Oil of oregano for systemic infection (learn how to use it first)
Immodium AD nobody needs to have the turistas while bugging out
Pepto Bismol tablets for any kind of stomach upset
Antihistamine
Sunscreen
Aloe vera for burns
Pedialyte
DenTek Temparin One Step Lost Filling Repair

Whatever you use or consume everyday, today, you're gonna wanna stock up on now.

The hyperinflation is real. The more you buy in bulk now of the things you'll always need or consume the more money you'll save yourself in the long run.

Re: What should we buy now - looking 18 months in the future?
Basic survival stuff that you should always have. One EMP and you will be camping out for a few months no matter where you live.

Shelter, water, food in that order.

Shelter - in case you have to move. Light tent, a good one that will keep you dry, sleeping bag and a pad. Appropriate clothing and rain gear. A tent even helps indoors if you have no heat.

Water - boil it, or buy a good filter.

Food - a ton of dry staples and something to cook it in and on in case the electricity goes out, or you cant buy natural gas or propane. Most basic, a fire.

Good knife and a spool of 550 cord and a lot of plastic bags, from 1qt ziplocs to large garbage bags. Maybe a few contractor bags.

Wood stove that you can cut hole for exhaust in one room in your rambler. You might survive winter and if you eat your neighbor.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83441137

I have a concrete board insert that replaces a kitchen window and is used to vent my Tractor Supply wood stove with cook top. My kitchen is centrally located and it heats the whole house. No permanent mods necessary.

Cigarettes. A lot of them.

Tobacco/nicotine takes away the feeling of hunger.

So seeing how theres a food crisis coming, and people will be starving. Get cigarettes. That way when you do run out of food, start smoking and you wont feel hunger.

A nice still. You can grow your own corn and yeast is easy to keep going. If you need sugar, use maple syrup, sorghum, or cane syrup. All easy to make if you have the equipment.
