"Sodium" is basically salt, (NaCl = natrium chloride))

you get bubbles if you mix baking soda and water, but the bubbles are not "soda" or sodium, but carbon dioxide (CO2).

for instance the Coca Cola fountains mix the flavor syrup, water and carbon dioxide, they don't use "soda" baking or any other soda in the process

I knew some people who referred to all soda as coca cola. They would say give me a coke mt dew, coke sprite, coke pepsi extc.

Different parts of the country call things differently. Oklahoma calls a beer pull "A Draw" in the Midwest its "A Tap".
In Illinois growing up it was "A Water Fountian" in Wisconsin it's "A Bubbler" Everything is a Coke, regardless of what type in the Midwest. Different strokes for different folks is all.
