Seriously. It's so fucking stupid to call it pop.

Re: Who the hell calls soda pop?
we do here in Colorado.

It is pop. Soda pop if you are confused.

Soda by itself sounds so elitist.

Its like calling a primo a cocoa puff.

Like did you get a suntan while drinking it or what?

throw a bottle or can up in the air

and let it hit the ground

now you know why it's called pop

modern drinks are inferior to the stuff we drank before they invented corn syrup,

RC was excellent in the past,

i have not had any good cola drinks in a long time,

i has some coke today but it tasted fruity,

which was a bummer,

Re: Who the hell calls soda pop?
I grew up in Alaska, and I was taught to call it pop. Then I went to the lower 48 and got super made fun of. "PAAAAPPPP".
Now I call it soda. But it will always be pop, to me.
Technically it is SODA POP, originally. Both are correct.

I'm guessing people in trailer parks probably call it pop. Go figure.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83551846

Guess again.
Everybody West of the Mississippi River most likely. It was something we were raised with ... just like you and soda or "a malted." A soda here would probably get you a scoop of ice cream, carbonated water, and a syrup flavored what ever you wanted. Chocolate, Cherry, even Vanilla .... all great "soda" flavors. We had every flavor under the sun when we were kids. Root Beer, all flavors from orange, berrys, chocolate coke and pepsi ... but the diff flavors were cans as well as bottles called "soda pop" and it got shortened to pop. Sorry AC 1846 ... its cultural ... we even have college graduates and rocket scientists here .......

Re: Who the hell calls soda pop?
Different areas call it different things.

Western PA = Pop. Take back the pop bottles. pop bottle deposit.

Texas = Coke as a generic term. Kinda strange, but who cares?

Soda = New England area.

I even heard it called filter drinks once in Tulsa.
They all mainly called it Dr. Pepper.

Or you could call it a sasparilla I suppose.

I used to strongly prefer RC cola when I drank that stuff. Haven't touched a sodie pop now for about 20 years.

Taint good for you.

Don’t know if it’s still true to this day, but back in the early 70’s Bostonians called it Tonic.
