At our house, we got the “buy ahead and lock in the price“ offer from our propane dealer. If I remember correctly the details of the alarmed shouting I heard coming from the office above my head, I’d say prices went up about 40%.
We won’t go without heat next year, but other people will struggle terribly.

Big difference between oil and gasoline/diesel, OP. What you wrote could very well be true but it’s still no scam. The problem is with the oil refineries. There hasn’t been a new one created since the 70s and the Biden admin is intentionally leaving them to decay. Some are shutdown and some aren’t getting supplies.

Of course, it is price gouging! Reg. unleaded is 4.99 at one store - then, 10 miles away it is 4.17. It is going up consistently .12 per day in my area. They arent emptying their tanks daily and paying more from the supplier at that rate. They arent supposed to raise prices until they are distributing a fresh supply that was purchased at the higher rate. Every gas station in town is not exhausting their tanks on a daily basis to be able to compensate for the daily increase consumers are paying. It is outrageous and certainly treason. What will happen when all the taxpayers cant get to work bc cant afford the gas and cant afford the ridiculously high rent so they become homeless. What will happen to the infrastructure? How will the US function when the income plus taxes generated by the simple folk ceases to fund these fools?? Oh, but Ukraine needs a few more billion.....fire up the presses!

Oil was basically free during Covid. I told everyone I knew to buy up oil etf and stocks. I put my entire retirement in, about 750k. For awhile people said I was wrong as tech surged. But slow and steady I’m now up 325% and tech is dropping like crazy.

It was the simplest investment I ever made. Either oil goes to $0 and we all die of Covid. Or it would rebound. Regardless which way it went there was no risk.

I did the same shorting VIX but got margined out because all the ETFs basically had died had to use futures lost $200K would of been up god knows how much till the peak. Haha

even at 4.00 a gal that is 220 a barrel. Oil spot averages about 120 a barrel these days.
