I think they were caught off guard and assumed there'd be little turnout. I guess there may be shenanigans in the hours to come but right now they're calling it. This is a barometer for the elections in the future. People are waking up.

If the progressives are starting to fall in San Francisco, maybe the progressives have hit a wall on what they are willing to accept from elected officals?

Also, if you look at the results so far, A lot of Republicans are right behind Gov Newsom in polling results. There are democrats also there, but I dont recall California having ANY republicans anywhere near the top of these lists in the past.

It's a bit of hope. I lived in the bay area for a time not long ago and omg everytime we went into the city something bad happened. We were in Sonoma County, but did business in the city. It wasn't as bad as it is now but the last time I was there we were robbed in a parking garage. Long story. Complicit security involved.

It was terrible. We stayed at an expensive hotel and the staff told us not to park on the street. We had a Cadillac. So we parked it in a garage and paid dearly. Our friend stayed in the car later when we went to a concert but fell asleep and someone stole everything in the car while he slept including the keys, which cost a fortune to replace. Then we had to pay a locksmith and the garage had security cameras but wouldn't review them. Totally corrupt. AND we had to pay the garage for the time we were stuck there.
