Not the film itself but the original storyline and characters are based on 3,000 yr old Hindu texts.

Have never been interested. Same goes for most movies, I watch very few. My tastes in media that I enjoy would be considered eccentric or unusual by most peoples' standards. Just for example I think Eraserhead is a terrific classic film.

There are lots of religions founded before the first text of the Bible was recorded, but we aren't performing their rituals or following their traditions.

True, Asian religions were not wiped out because the Romans never conquered them and allowed the Catholics to put them in Inquisition trials/executions.

Just an example of a highly critically acclaimed film from the same era as OG Star Wars.

It definitely strikes a chord exposing some of the inner workings of the dark side of the mind that some may find unnerving and be uncomfortable with. A masterful work of art that will definitely leave an impression be it good or bad. Cookie-cutter films lack intrigue and are usually predictable enough to determine the plotted outcome long before they are over so they bore me to tears.

Not a psychopath myself but understanding the nuances therein is relevant to ascertaining the full scope of what the human condition is capable of producing.
