You're definitely not alone, OP. I also have this hopeless feeling that we're "done" and there's nothing you or I can do about it.

Thanks for the comraderie. I am just so depressed right now. Everything seems out of the reach of a normal person. We're just along for the ride, I guess.

If you're comfortably retired, then you have it better than most.

We have to participate in this tyranny. You do not.

You have a choice to NOT pay attention. Believe me, your attention is what they want! This is how they divide and conquer.

I mean this is one of the main purposes of GLP. To suck you into the drama and depression until you can no longer think for yourself. Eventually, the "news" consumes you, and you give up doing anything with your life, because you're always waiting for the next awful thing.

My advice... get off the internet, find a hobby, and live your life how YOU want to live it. Fill it with real people and outdoor activities and slowly build a community around this. Over time your community will grow and you will find that you can support each other. There is no need for external resources.

If enough people did this, it would be a true revolution, and TPTB would never see it coming!

Nah man, keep on keepin on until the bitter end. I love my job, I love my hobbies, and I'm gonna keep on having as much fun as they'll let me until either Jesus comes back or they stick me in the ground.

Even with all the doom, the basic proposition of life hasn't changed. You don't get to take anything from this world with you, so accomplishments are just sand castles we build before the tide takes them. I like to think we're here to learn and grow spiritually, and maybe even help some folks along the way. Store up your treasures in heaven, man, because everything else is headed straight for the grave.

I had to put my worker bee butt to bed.. I was tired.

You have to be careful of too much news, Dear. When you consume too much media it puts you into a bit of a panic, if you will. You become hyper focused, and always on alert and we humans can't operate in that state for long. The fight or flight response is only a small and potent well designed to give us what we need through an adrenaline dump to see us through an emergency. So when we enter a state where we perceive everything to be a threat we just become overwhelmed and go numb.

It's ok to keep an eye on things, but you have to unplug, and put yourself out in the real physical world and have a look around. The sun still rises, rain still falls, people are going about their lives. The birds sing, the squirrels are arguing and chasing around the trees. They don't know or care what's going on in the world. Their world is just fine.

Find pleasurable things to do. Get yourself out to someplace new to you and meditate, read a book. Exercise is key to our well being. Our bodies like to move and do things, not sit around and fret.

We as a society get through this by keeping ourselves sane and healthy, with a good and grounded perspective.

Be good, be fair, prepare and watch for the undeniable signs that it is time to go up and inland.

Study the Geology of your local areas and above all, fear not.

You can`t imagine how true that is.

Every martial artist knows that in the immediate moments leading up to a conflict, nothing is certain and everything is up for grabs in those key moments...

On one hand this seems like it never gets "there", however, it's a long drawn out series of said opportunities.

Perhaps I'm overoptimistic but if there was a good side to such, I feel like I can see small opportunities/moments.

And some martial arts use your opponent's momentum against them so the more devastating their potential attack, the more devastating your counter-attack.
