But that isn't the Earth's gravity having the effect on light. It's the Earth's gravity affecting the atmosphere which affects light. What was asked was in regards to gravity directly affecting light. news flash. gravity does not exist by itself. There is ALWAYS mass in the presence of gravity. So it is always gravity and something else whether atmosphere or otherwise.
