9 out of 10 times people are "depressed" there is a reason for it. Trying to mask a normal emotional response with pharmaceutical dope is what is causing the problems.

If your kid got killed or your dog dies and you weren't depressed , I wouldn't want to know you.

Gen X here. Elderly woman fell asleep behind the wheel of her car and rear ended me in 2000 at 21yrs old. Every day since I have been fighting for my health, and every single minute of every day is pain.

In 2001 I watched interest rates go from just over 6% to just over 3%. That was the beginning of the Fake World in my opinion. The last 20+yrs everyone I knew has been living like they had money while I have been telling them they are broke, they just don't know it yet. They hated me for that.

They all hated me for telling them to save and invest, learn organic gardening, alternative medicine, how to heal ones own self, and food storage. They hated me in 2006 when I was talking about Gold going to $2,500/oz before the Collapse. I watched my retarded Father tell my Mother to sell all her Father's Gold in '08-09 at $1,100/oz because "Gold is never going to get this high again". She sold it.

Everyone hated me for telling them that "health" care will never make them healthy, they must make lifestyle changes. They hated me when I dropped out of "health" care and became more healthy every year after I made that move. They hated me when I told them that Health is Wealth, and Food is Medicine.

I have never taken a single vacation since that car crash 22yrs ago. I have never been more than 100mi from home, and never even left my home State.

Everything I was speaking about 15+yrs ago is happening right now. That makes me more hated than ever. I tried to help tards both left and right. Everyone hated me for it.

My (really great) therapist calls this "passive suicide". I call it apathy.

For those in the thread who might benefit, I recommend reading Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning. And, if you've read it once, then I suggest reading it again. The book helps properly shift perspective and finding purpose even in the small things, especially filling the soul by helping others.

I don't know if your numbers are accurate but your premise certainly is.

Each time I lose a loved one to death, I suffer from deep grief depression but not chemically imbalanced clinical depression that needed meds. I also have diagnosed and treated PTSD, and the combo anti-anxiety and anti-depressive meds never worked as they were not part of my chemical imbalance. GABA, however, most certainly was until it straightened out after meds treatment.

Apathy and loss of purpose, on the other hand, need a psychological shift not meds.

I despise that "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" line. Far too many people use it as a way out, an excuse, to not engage with people who need support or just someone to sit beside them. They throw down the cheap cliche and move on. Cheap line and cheap, shallow people, imo.
