I'm exactly where you are. I have no motivation to make real money again as I see it as somewhat futile and that in knowing what's going on and what's yet to come, it makes the effort even less worth trying or caring about.

Waiting for a divine intervention or some other HUGE event to occur that might wake people up.

Wow. That is tough- I'm so sorry about your friend. I understand the misery she's feeling.

As far as not having kids- you made the right decision for you and your life. Good job trusting your instincts. Kids are wonderful, but I think the current ones have a lot of heartache and difficult times ahead of them, sadly.

I don't and have never regretted having children- they are the joys of my life and honestly, my only reason for continuing in this shitshow. They are my world.

When they were born, I did question if it was the right thing to do at the time- they came into the world around 9/11- my first taste of the disaster this place was becoming. So I was VERY scared and unsure about bringing them into this hellhole.

But I always thought (and hoped) in the back of my mind that things would improve and be ok by the time they grew up.

It hasn't, unfortunately.

All I can do now is try to be a good role model for them and think positively.

I often hope that maybe a majority of their generation will be the positive change we need, even if it doesn't seem like it right now.

We really only have two options- the world keeps getting worse and eventually implodes, or these kids will wake up and save humanity.

They are our only hope, I think.

I do pray.
