Any one else recently try to buy a car and got shocked?

A friend of mine just made 10,000$ from two old crappy trucks.

On the other hand I get offers for my 3 years old Mazda to sell it back for more than I bought it.

They were offering $7000 for a beat up 2011 model I own with fading paint and dents and over 70K miles.

A year ago it was worth about $3000.

I'm still driving a 2009 Mazda with 142k miles.

I've been avoiding car shopping as this one has some issues but as long as engine and transmission hold up, I'm not buying anything new.

Daughter just traded a 17 mustang with some hail damage got 13K, the following week it's listed at 21.9K on their website.

I paid 21.5k out the door in 17

just bought a new 2021 chevy z71 4wd..

50K and a few cents....

They are also charging you extra if you pay in cash vs financing. I believe they are adding $5,000 to the total if you don't use financing

But yes, car market has been like this for over a year now. New car dealerships have converted to used to stay afloat. Most new cars are sold before even getting there. It's crazy.

FYI - part of the problem is financing rates are about to skyrocket when the Feds raise the interest rates causing huge demand on the current market.

Then there are supply chain issues with chips.

Bad time to buy but waiting for it to get better is a crap shoot.

i bought an 02 expedition 4x4 5.4 2 years ago for 1600. the last 2 months i've had people knocking on my door offering me 5k+ and the thing isn't even listed. It looks exactly OEM.

Love you rich people complaining about car prices. I can only afford sub 4k cars. I work on them myself and old Toyotas can be found for dirt cheap. Sure high mileage but reliable as hell. Parts are plentiful and cheap. Picked up a Scion xa for 2800 and a Previa for 850. 200k and 293k respectively.
