Because I was recently diagnosed with an incurable lung disease, I had a huge spike in my thoughts about death, and I had all kinds of thoughts. That spike lasted about five days, and then I balanced out.

But death has never been something that scared me, in fact, I'm thinking it's going to be a great adventure....heh, there are so many unknowns about it, despite all the differing info garnered about what happens after we pass, so it's still in essence an unknown.

The unknown factor inspires me to be the best I can be day in and day out....hf

Re: Not trying to be morbid, but I'm curious if anyone has been feeling their mortality lately.
Yes, in the sense that something is coming for me.

I have a strong sense to stay and fight - but the dread I have for some unseen predator has never been stronger.

I'm a planner type personality. I plan everything, I make lists, I plan years ahead....I've never not been able to envision the next year or two. Every time I try, I just draw blanks now.
 Quoting: Bloody Mary

So you’ve got OCD. Big deal.
It’s only your fault that you can’t plan ahead cause your culture and the American Empire is on its last leg.
That’s all.

Your in fear.
I see it as great and exciting time to be alive. It could be better than the evil, degenerate turd culture you were raised in.

The iron will of the natural order always wins.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72838219

I wouldn't describe it as OCD. That's a disorder that includes a lot of behaviors I don't have.

I'm a planner, that's all. I like to "chart a course", let's say.

That's really hard to do right now. Whereas it's always been pretty easy and clear, it's blurry now.

I don't care if you hate America. I hate what America has become. Like all white, western countries, we've been conquered and taken over. We had an extremely successful and healthy culture. Now it's shit.

But the future is only going to get worse for you. You sound like a 20 year old with your optimism and naivete, so I'll just stop here rather than crush it. Good luck!
 Quoting: Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary, I'm right there with you! My sister and I were just saying the same thing..... feeling a sense of dread such as we haven't before.

I'm not sure if it's because we're looking at so many different probabilities all hitting us at the same time, or if it's a simple collapsing of time lines....... and during that collapse we're collectively "feeling" all these potentials happening simultaneously...... but yeah, lots of us are feeling this energy.

And like you, I have always had a sense of "knowing" what's coming next.... but as you say, when I look at the next 2 years, it's blank
 Quoting: Satyarevelations

Thanks for sharing that! I'm glad I'm not alone, but it's kind of scary that other people are feeling that.

I'm 50, so I pretty much feel like I've "had my go" and everything past here is borrowed or extra time. I mean, it's still way too young to die, or retire, for that matter, LOL Which is why I'm trying to get back into the workforce.

I will fight it out as long as they let me. But yeah, there is something looming that I've never sensed before this last year.

Strangely, I feel things are going to get bad. However, I am suppose to be here even if people close to me pass away and my own life is threatened regularly. And, I hope I am wrong.

I feel like I have to stay to be a voice of reason and delight. I have no special power to do anything else but. I think we are going to need people with a Pollyanna attitude to help with what is going to take place.

But...I'm not married and don't have any kids, so if I live a long time (which I kind of doubt will happen) but if I do...I'm terrified to be at the hands of the young people in 30 years from now....I just can't imagine it. I think I'll jump off a cliff before that happens, LOL

For those of you who have been thinking about it more than typical, what do you think causes it?

Obviously, the way the world is spiraling has a lot to do with it, but I also wonder if we're being spiritually prepared by divine means.

That's why I avoid doctors. They define a situation into a named entity. They use statistics to argue for your end.

In the real world, people live until they die, or at least, they have the ability to. Medical intervention may either aid or damage their future. I pay attention and read the literature, but I won't ruin my life by medical intervention unless there's a really clear and defined benefit that exceeds the costs and pain.

I'd rather trust God than any physician.

Good luck with your life. We're all terminal, and the when and how is generally beyond our knowing. I'd avoid cutting life short, but would avoid the medical establishment. Living beyond your time beyond your control can be as bad as dying early.

Re: Not trying to be morbid, but I'm curious if anyone has been feeling their mortality lately.
I had a nightmare years ago that felt so weird. Many people with super high debt that could never be paid back were sentence and executed by the government.

Most healthy elderly were excused as being a victim of the system. All their savings were mostly wiped out. Anyone younger and over 18 had to stand trial. They had to explain their debt and decadents.

Elderly and those with low debt got to keep their homes. Many of the elderly had to take care of grandkids while parents went out to work off the debt or maintain making a living. t

Your value and attitude were assessed. It did not matter who your were before the economic crash, your income was based on what skills you could contribute now. So you needed real skills to be free and comfortable.

Other than that there were work camps in which you could go home at the end of the day to your extended family home. If you were very lucky and debt little you got to keep your home

Then there were concentration camps for those in debt handed down to them. The they had various sentences and had to work their way up to be able to leave the camp to visit home. They in huge open where houses. They stayed in partitioned cage like dwellings similar to the size of a jail cell or like you would see at a swap meet. Bathrooms and cafeteria at the other end of the building. Personal items kept in lockers. Some lived in cages only temporarily, while others have long sentences for may years. They were separated by how long your were sentenced to serve.

My spouse and I were lucky. We only got like 7/8 months. My home with everything in it was being rented out by the government. I would get it back in one year. My kids stayed with my in-laws and we were going to have to live with them too for a little while. But, if we could not find jobs after getting out to pay our bills we where going to have to stay at my in-laws and continue to rent out our home or go back to the concentration camp. It was a strict policy but we where alive. I wondered constantly how we were ever going to be able to afford to fix up our house it the tenant trashed it. Luckily the home continued to look like it was being kept. Unfortunately property could not be handed down generationally after you died. So

Your kids had a chance to buy a deed and rent your home or a home with help you saved up for them, but not the actual property. Almost nobody had enough wealth for any one child to inherit anything at all as far as a home goes. But it was a move up to the middle class and a little easier life if your kids had a home of their own.

Other than that if your grown child didn't have a home, they were subject to debt that would lead to work camps and death. It was an awful dream but seemed so real. I hope it stays a dream.

Yes, I'll be 57 next month.

Dad was diagnosed with cancer at 57.

He was given six months but fought it for about a year and a half.

Died twenty years ago come August.

His father didn't live all that much longer.

Dead at 62, I think. He died when I was fifteen. 1980.

Never knew my great-grandfather. He died in his thirties in the depression.

Re: Not trying to be morbid, but I'm curious if anyone has been feeling their mortality lately.
I've found lately that my mind and conversations have been increasingly on the topic of death.

I'll be going about my day and these thoughts sneak up on me. I don't feel terribly depressed or defeated. I just feel it's close.

For some reason, when I have that thought, it doesn't really worry me. I identify it, acknowledge it, and carry on. It goes away and comes back and so on.

I certainly am in no rush for it, but I'm not feeling the typical dread that I used to get when thinking about it. It's like maybe I've accepted it's coming.

I don't really know how to explain this properly. Let's discuss it.

Please?

First, I want to tell you that my brother was given six months to live then his cancer completely disappeared.

Next, I want to tell you that if you do lose your avatar (physical body), it's probably not the "end of the world", LOL

We all "die", we all lose our avatars at some point. The lucky ones will have notice and know how to prepare. And then, I think we go on to, like you said, a new adventure.

The secret is....you're not ALLOWED to die. As in, for real die. And that should scare everyone LOL
