Is there any cure for mankind's deviousness?

I raised my kids and grandchildren it is wrong to lie and set a proper example. It did not change a thing, and neither did bible studies and church, no matter how hard I tried to teach them right from wrong, they grew up to be liars and cause all kinds of destruction and harm with their lies and actions just like everyone else.
It is not because of the way they were raised. They made the choice to do wrong and knew right from wrong.
Religion sure is not working, it has caused more harm than good. There are just as many liars and deceptions in the churches that like to think they are better than others.
